Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

It's cool but there does seam to be a lot of useless stuff on it already. screen is beautiful and the internet quick. Keep catching the side/bottom buttons though when using the screen is there a.way to lock them so I'm not constantly changing volume while typing?
Also i keep opening an app going to the main screen then can't find the open thing again.

I did.have some screen showing all active processes but can't find find it now. there did seam tobe a.lot.of stuff running though.

Also as you can tell i keep hitting the fullstop key instead of space. :p

Long press the home button from the home screen. Long press of the menu button from the home screen opens google search, incase you did'nt know. Another tip, on your contacts list swipe right on a cantact to call, swipe left to text.

Question for you Note girls:

Now you've had your Note a while and are used to it, what do you make of the S-Pen?

Be honest, would you miss it if the Note 2 didn't have one? Have you come to use it often?

I rarely use it to be honest but, it does come in handy sometimes. I tutor my younger cousin for his GCSE Maths and it is useful, saves me a lot of paper. Also, one of my favourite games is Pool Rebel which I play using the S-Pen, it adds a lot more precision for when you need to move the cue just a fraction. I played my mate who owns a Nexus and he finds it too fiddly. It's no wonder I have won about 99% of the games I've played online, the Note with S-Pen gives me an unfair advantage!

Overall, I prefer to have it there. :) My sketching is awful mind.

Hmm, had my Note for 3.5 mnths now, obviously I love it and browse't web or app for hours a day, I've not used the S pen for anything other than touching the screen when I'm browsing in small, however I have a collection of sketches I've er cajoled arty friends to draw for me and would miss the pen if it was left off subsequent Notes, I do aspire to one day use it "properly", the S3 will have to be very good to get me to leave the Note camp, but leave I will if the specs are tempting.

Yes, I would miss it. I think it's pretty great, largely because using Japanese hand writing recognition with a finger sucks. However I've also found it really nice to have for other things that require any kind of precision, like playing World of Goo or browsing fully zoomed out. Plus I can use it with Swype to type ridiculously fast.

Ouch! Look at the results after my brother dropped his phone, face down on the bathroom floor.

But the screen still works in the affected area.

I originally got the note as I was moving from the original Xperia X1 which has a resistive touchscreen (probably the best touchscreen I've ever used) and a stylus and thats dead on precise - I do a fair bit of remote desktop from my phone where I need that precision... however the S-Pen is not even close to that precision :( fortunatly the larger screen/res makes up for it. I do however find the S-Pen dead handy for jotting notes and I'd definitely go for a phone with a stylus in the future.

Cheers, I'm gonna go for the 1st one. Does the screen protector take away from the quality of the screen ?.

it wont unless its the "matte" one which will reduce the quality a simple screen protector won't reduce it but finger prints/oil(Believe me my hands are not oily but god does my screen look like i have dipped it in oil) will be more visible.

I'm several months into my ownership and I'm even more thrilled with it. Most of my usage isn't for calls so the size isn't really an issue although I do find the call quality excellent. I guess this is due to the size of the speaker and antennae.

Most of my use is browsing, email and texting which the device excels at. I now also use it as my sat nav, ebook reader and more recently I've started watching TV on it while sat in bed.

My kids love playing games on it and they use the s-pen a lot for drawing pictures on it. In short it has been worth every penny and I rarely turn my PC on nowadays.

For the first time since I've owned my Note, I got a message today saying software update available. I downloaded it (around 70mb) but it didn't install for some reason, it said try to update again via kies. Anyone else get this update and what it is?
