Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

A Part of me wants to get this phone, mainly cos of its size and the S Pen, but also a part of me wants to wait for the SGS III!!

I really don't know what to do anymore. :( My contract is up for renewal on Monday, and advice you guys can give would be great!

Well the S3 will definitely not have a S-Pen nor will the screen be 5.3" or above. It will probably have better hardware spec eg. quadcore, more ram, possibly a better camera etc so these are the things you have to weigh up. The S3 will have to be something very special to make me want to sell my Note, and I just can't see that happening mainly due to the screen size. There have been some very good offers on the Note recently too, £110 cashback, making the total price of the handset ~£330.

That's a tough call, I have a Note and I'm r pleased with it, it more than lives up to the hype but if the S111 is a good improvement in smart performance I'll sell my note and get an S111.

IIwy I'd hang on and see what the S111 is like before making my choice I waited just over a month past my then contract before I could get a Note.

I can't see happy Note users jumping ship to the S3 to be honest, unless Samsung have something amazing in the bag to surprise us all.

How stable are custom ROMs on the Note?

Mainly interested in hearing about ICS themed ROMs. If by chance the S3 turns out to be not that big a jump from the S2 (unlikely) then the Note is the phone I'd be looking at for big screened goodness and because I've just started playing Draw Something with friends and having an S-Pen would be of great advantage and I'd be #winning at the game :P

Just checked for an update (impatient for ICS) and there was one for improved stability, there was also one a couple of weeks ago. Seems odd to have several stability updates together when ICS should be just round the corner.

I'd appreachiate knowing where I can find this deal!

Quidco had the offer, and I think have it back on for 2 days.

Buy the Note on a 24 month contract on the cheapest tariff (£13.50) for £200. Cancel the data bolt on straight away bringing the monthly bill to £10.50 and the handset price comes down to £90 instead of £200 with the cashback. Total price = approx £340.

Best way to get a Nexus or Note at present if you want it sim free. Throw away the contract sim, you can cancel the contact any time and pay off the remainder of the contract.

Edit: Nexus is £20 cheaper in fact. £320 for that, or £340 for Note is a bargain!! :)

Sweet! Thank you very much. Now to decide, nexus or note.....

Assuming the size isn't an issue, get the Note.

The Nexus is a great device but it only shines in the software department, however it's almost all just aesthetic and will be replicated in time on the Note via a ROM/Theme.

I've been using Criskelo's ROM for a couple of weeks now, it's fine as a daily. A few weird bugs with the phone side (names don't always display, chinese words appear when people call sometimes etc) but apart from that it seems fine. There isn't a massive ROM selection though and ROMs don't tend to get updated as much. I still use my Note over my Nexus and S2 though.

I will be getting this phone on Friday hopefully :)

Does anyone use a screen protector on the Note?
and has anybody bought a HDMI adapter and tried MKVs on a TV?

Thanks :)

Yes I use a screen protector and it seems fine, I've also tried a 720p & 1080p mkv on the TV and they play (with diceplayer) perfectly smooth.

I've had mine four months now, no screen protector or case and there's not a single mark on the screen. I found that a protector took away from the screen, just do without and take care of it.

Took away how ?, I've had a protector on from day 1 so I have nothing to compare it with.

I've had a protector on mine since day 1 and you can barely tell it has one on. When applied properly, and depending on which one it is (I find the cheap ones to be the best) you will have no issues. The one I am using atm came free with a cheap case I purchased but I normally prefer the ones you apply with water.

Any update on ICS? Confirmed dates for the Note? I am getting very impatient. :o

Edit:

Nice!
