Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

To get the vouchers use the samsung apps app to get samsung hub app then go to the exclusives icon and grab what you want, get a sky go app from somewhere and a kind soul might share their code with you.

Thanks, will do. Coming from an iphone 3gs I expect to be on a bit of a learning curve for a while, doubtless i'll be back with a few noob questions.:o:D Cheers for all your help/tips thep02.;)

Go for it! Once I saw that enough people were having success on XDA forums with the Mobile Odin method, I managed to start the ICS install within the 15 minute late break at work, had it actually flashing the ROM on the way out to the car. Lose the fear people and go for it. (If you are fed up of waiting!). ;)

I haven't been following the ics leaked roms - which are you using, does it have full funstioality and are there still people getting bricked notes?

I did it via PC Odin, took ten mins and kept my settings. The only thing it didn't do is keep my icon config. Premium suite is there as well.

Quite fancy one of these for my renewal next month.

Anyone had one through o2 retentions?

If so what kind of deal did they do?

I know buymobilephones.net do them for £20-26 per month on T-Mobile, hoping o2 will match the tariff :)

O2 retentions are garbage.. I had been with them for a looong time and there offers were not comparable with any of the 3rd party suppliers so I jumped ship
its a bit like having car insurance for me now as there is no customer loyalty whatsoever so having learned my lesson I now get the cheapest deal that suits me rather than paying over the odds with a company I have been loyal to over the years

I've been fairly lucky with them so far, currently have 500mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data for £20.42 a month (deal was with an Xperia X10).

Can usually get them to match contracts but they won't always do it on all phones, the Galaxy S and Desire for example they wouldn't deal on but the X10 they did, hoping the Note will be doable this time round.

Wasn't fussed on which of the three I had last time around but this time the Note is about the only phone I fancy :p

Well the Note landed today, seriously impressed with it so far. Only niggle is it came with Android version 2.3.6 installed so I've gone into the settings and manually initiated a software update, connects to server but keeps giving me a 'no update available' message, Is the new ICS update available yet? Thought it was from posts in here y'day. Cheers for any info.

The updates to ICS are in a link within the last few pages, they are genuine updates for regions and kernels that have come out before the UK release, you'll need to root then put them on from xda as we are yet to get it in the UK yet, prob putting extra spy stuff on so big bro doesn't miss anything.;)

Smit: the ICS release is in Germany, not officially out in the UK yet. But you can instal the German firmware manually as thep02 says

Thep02: you don't need to be rooted!

Thanks, i'll check back a few pages.

I've been tweaking around with this thing all day! Amazing how customisable/tweakable Android is in comparison to IOS.

Love the screen, transferred a few HD vids from my PC and they look stunning when played back on the Note.

Tethering working well now via USB, it wouldn't work initially, Windows requested a driver install when it detected Android Tethering, had to install some software on my PC to get it to work, (Samsung Kies) which must contain appropriate drivers, couldn't find required drivers seperately which is a shame as Kies just seems like bloatware tbh.

Download ES File Explorer from the market to access your LAN and stream videos from there using BS player.

HD steaming works beautifully!

With no internet until the 17th I thought I'd have to wait awhile, but my mate just gave me the official ICS rom on usb with mobile odin. I've had my Note almost 6 months and I've never updated the firmware in that time, the only niggle I had with this phone was the slight lag, it was noticeable coming from the S2. I've since got use to the lag, so you can imagine my surprise having just updated to ICS. It is absolutely perfect now. Scrolling through the app pages and menu screens is unbelievably smooth, the internet browser is also much smoother and faster. This is what it should have been like from the start!! Get it NOW if you havent already! :)

It's been that smooth for me for months, you should have updated sooner :p Samsung have released new firmware pretty much every month since release, and they've included new features as well as performance and battery improvements.

I will say that I'm finding battery life pretty horrible in ICS though, much worse than any of the GB firmware versions.

I would get excellent battery life too, will see if I notice any difference today. Overall so far though, huge improvement, I was still on the KK firmware before this or whatever they originally shipped with.
