Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

A factory reset would probably sort it, bit of a pain though I know! I think the consideration needs to be that this is a bit pretty major update, like going from XP to 7 or something. Starting afresh is the best way to make sure everything is working ok.

I grumbled too early! 12 hrs later and after few Aplication updates and restarts it is flying! Much, much faster than pre ICS. :D

Yeah, from O2 online store. Hope this doesn't mean I'm, going to get stuck waiting for some branded crappy O2 ICS release? I was under the impression that the Notes are sent out unlocked...

I have read that the common S2 unlocks work on the Note, mine wasn't locked or branded and is direct from o2.

tap into your phones dialing keypad *#7465625# it will then reveal your lock status.

Anyone getting GPS lock issues? MY gps doesn't seem to be working at all with GPS TEST app? Can't see any sattelites and no gps icon in status bar

edit - working now after a reboot.

I've found GPS signal significantly worse in ICS, just like battery life.

I'm considering going back to GB at this point, but waiting to see if Samsung release a newer build anytime soon.

My note is unlocked, but I'm having no joy trying to get Kies to play nice and come up with an option to update, and nothing from manually trying to get an OTA update. I'm considering just manually downloading - is N7000XXLQ2 (build date 22/5/12) the latest firmware everyone has just received?

In no hurry to move to ICS myself, I think some people must have some crappy GB firmware revision(s) - my UK one is a lot smoother and more responsive than those I know IRL who got theirs from the de store (using latest stock firmware).

For some reason Germany has had a lot more updates than the UK, usually one a month.

I went from one of the latest GB releases on my German Note, to stock ICS and didn't notice any difference in terms of speed. GB has been running great for me ever since the second or third update, very smooth.

I would try moving to CM9 but think I'd miss having S Memo and the stylus features too much.

Upgraded to ICS via Kies last night. Phone definitely seems more responsive since the update, scrolling through a web page for instance now seems very smooth with no momentary pauses/hitches like before. Also really like the new web browser, previously used Dolphin HD but I think this new ICS browser is nicer. Only negative for me is I've lost root but no big deal to re-root tbh.

Great news, shame I can't connect via Kies at all

Spent the last 2hrs ******* around trying to get it to work, now running around in circles trying to figure out how to use Odin and where to get the files from...

Every single Samsung phone I have owned has never worked with there own software, glad to see they have made so much progress.

Edit: Finally got Kies working and updated to ICS!

I bought a couple of solar chargers from eb by way of China 5000ma/h, £15 each 1 for me and 1 for the lads primarily for the 7.7s, both work fine one of them has put 30% on my note in about 30/40 min the other has put 5% on a 7.7 in 8 min, I paid attention that time.

They're smaller than the Note, about as thick as mine in its silicone cover, and would be totally convenient to carry around even use one on the move, I'm mega pleased with the purchase and the free charging it brings:D:cool:

How have yours served you? Are they any good? Going away camping for 5 days at the end of June and considered one, but I've also just bought 2 extra batteries and will have access to a 12v plug on the odd car journey. Two minds on whether to buy one or not

Yup they both work fine, getting charge from the sun and charging the Note or 7.7s fast.

Hi

I cant update via kies. When i connect my phone it says new firmware version available. It downloads the firmware then the phone disconnects and reconnects and the whole process jsut repeats itselfs. On the checklist it say charge battery to 100 percent. I havnt done this could this be the reason?

Any ideas

Thanks

^^ Thats pretty much how it normally works. Your probably going to need about 12-17 hours total in direct sunlight (doesn't have to be a super bright day but not too overcast) to charge the battery fully in the UK from my experience.

I thought i had just bricked my phone. I was downloading the firmware and it said 'cannot find phone' the phone said 'downloading dont turn of target' I had to pull the cable and the battery and for a second it didnt power on. Luckily it did

Anybody else having bad luck with kies or isi t just me
