Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

Took me ages to get Kies working full stop!

1st attempt after getting it working it froze on 0% and I had to remove battery etc as you have, second time it worked however!

I had around 55% battery power when I did mine.

Kies is the worst software I have ever come across. Managed to update yesterday morning after what must have been over twenty attempts. If finally managed to allow the phone to connect to it when I took out the memory card.

Hmm seems like a lot of probs with kies, I tried to use it when I first got the Note and got nowhere, this time it went perfectly I only had 68% bat when I started it had gone up by the time I took it off usb.

All I did was open kies on the pc conect the phone via usb wait like 5/6 min for it to connect then about half an hour to go through all the steps which entailed pressing next 2/3 times and waiting.

Before I started, for another reason, I'd put all my stuff on card rather than internal mem, the card was left in the slot, I had root but it was hidden if that has any effect, the root was lost.

My Note is noticeably faster and smoother in every action, waiting for a black S3 or next super phone will be very easy now this has happened, roll on the Note 2, bound to come as over 2 mill South Koreans own Notes.:D:D

I updated via keis last night, and now my.camera doesnt work, says ¨media scanning¨ then goes back to the homescreen. Ive factory reset aswell and that didnt help. Any ideas?

sorry no advice here but hope you get it working. there is post on xda from the inidain users saying when they answer a call after ics the screen goes blank

ok finally got mine to update. I had to put it into flight mode for some reason. All seems to be working well. At first it seemed a bit slow but after 2 restarts its now fine. you can test the sensors by typing *#0*#

I had no problem updating mine - took a max of 30mins I just left it plugged in and played a game while it did its stuff.

On the other hand I'm having problems with the email app again - when I read emails on the phone and then when back on the pc in the evening all the emails are still marked as unread. I've looked through all the settings and cant see whats wrong.

Anyone know what I should be looking for/changing?

Had a play with one of these in O2 this afternoon as I'm looking to pickup a new handset as I'm close to chucking my Bold 9900 through a window!!!

Really impressed with it actually, yes its big but not all that much bigger than the Galaxy III, seems like it would maybe replace my Playbook at the same time.

will it be your first Android device? - will be pretty spectacular. Now even better with the ICS upgrade.

:D.

How are you finding the ICS upgrade? Any stand-out features you like?

Stand out feature since the upgrade..easy, the speed and the resulting smoothness makes every other feature a new delight, just to prove it to myself I tapped the tvcatchup app, notoriously slow, swifftly got the graphics up less than a minute to aprove the device then straight into Sinbad, super smooth.

I will say though that I took my perfectly applied protector off the screen to check for micro cracks in the glass, they were in the protector:D anyway this naked screen stuff works, the glass feels amazing as are the visuals on it.

How smooth are Apple phones? I've had about 30 secs moving stuff on my mates ipad2 but no other hands on experience.

Yeah ICS add an extra layer of polish to an already polished product.

ICS+ browser is excellent and I've been waiting to use it on the Note for a while.
Set all the font sliders to max and use it just for this forum - portrait viewing FTW!!:

The pattern lock looks soo much better than GB too. I'm used to this all though from ICS on the S2.

Apple stuff is really smooth, their pinch to zoom is crazy smooth as is the scrolling. This is very close though.

Just applied it and opened ocuk forum in portrait, took less than a min to open play, search, download and accept permissions, how crazy is that?

All my adult life I've felt cheated by the future that never came but now my mobile phone is better than anything Captain Kirk had:D

I'll try out pattern lock later too.

So I installed Paranoid Android last night and wow... it's freakin' awesome. Stability seems good and I'm seriously loving the ability to choose between tablet and phone layout per app. Installation and getting all my apps back up and running was pretty painless, though it took a little while.

Still not completely finished tinkering but like where it's at so far!

On Paranoid is it possible to have the phone style status bar but tablet style apps? I'm sorely tempted to switch from CM9.

Really do like the look of this Paranoid Android - But the thought of bricking my phone is scaring me :( I couldnt afford to replace the note nor with a decent phone at the minute.

What are the chances of something going wrong? I also heard rooting voids your warranty? can it be undone?
