Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

The phone can feel surprisingly laggy, too. Flicking through web pages in Chrome, for example.

It almost feels like the Android of old. The Android that kept me away from the platform until the One X. Surely it should be smoother than this?

It's running the 4.0.4 update.

Not tried chrome but other browsers are nippy enough. I've found how responsive the note is seems to differ from note to note tho, my UK one is distinctly more responsive than the people I know who got the DE version regardless of the firmware they put on it but I don't know if thats a general trend. I know a few other owners who have varying degrees of overall responsiveness but I don't know which version they have or how much software they have installed.

I found mine quick using Gingerbread, but buggy and laggy with ICS 4.0.3.

Update to 4.0.4 has alleviated most of my issues with the phone. The slight tinge of regret I had for selling my Galaxy S2 went with the last update.

My note seems to be flying now with RocketRom v10 on there, the only issue I've had so far was with the bluetooth failing to connect to a headset this morning. A little annoying but not the end of the world :)

The Note is growing on me, I just wish I could sort this lag out. Turning the screen off, for example, sees the screen dim in a rather stuttery way. Launching the multitasking animation is the same, as is the way the phone auto-dims.

I wouldn't say the phone was slow, just the animations above. That's never right.

Might try another cleanout. Anything in particular I can wipe in case the guy I bought it from missed something?

I've just come back from a weeks holiday in Italy and this phone was a real boon for me. I was surprised just how well it fitted into cargo short pockets and it was useful for everything from satnav to browsing to google maps for walking around Verona, to finding restaurants, etc. I also used the camera an awful lot. Still very happy with the phone having lived with it for about 9 months.

Anyone noticed a poor wifi range with the new update?

I remember the signal used to be pretty poor in my room, but now when I'm watching videos etc in bed the wifi keeps dropping out. Can see this happening in other parts of my house too which where fine before.

That's not right. I've not experienced anything like that.

Can't say I have.

I keep my apps on the internal sd card/storage - and my media on the External sd card.

I think you need root to put apps on the external sd card.

My way is easier tbh. And better if you move sd cards around.

First - I can't pull the notification drawer down while on the lock screen. I can on the One X, and could using both the stock Sense ROM and a clean Android one. For some reason with Touch Wiz though, I can't. Is that normal?

I think it is normal, as I can't do it on my Note either.

Odd, I can with mine, standard launcher etc as well.
