Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Nope, I was just told this information verbally when I agreed to the new contract. Part of their bargaining really as I was looking to get a better deal elsewhere (as you do).

I was on an almost identical contract before with the same company and they offered the temporary replacement handset when I took the phone instore to get sent away and fixed.

Ive give up on custom roms as they all have their problems.

I use voodoo project ext4 only. My phone flies and is stable. But tomorrow my sgs2 arrives so i need it while i mess that up. :)

Well I'm currently deciding between CM7 or MIUI because I simply fancy a change.

Not all custom ROMs have problems, or they have the same problems as stock ROMs tbh. I've been running Doc's ROM JS8 for quite a while now and it's flawless and no need for lagfix, but I've just got the itch to mess about!

I'm getting battery drain with Darkys 9.5 that I can't seem to nail down, so I'm getting itchy feet - CM7 is currently getting a lot of praise on the Vodafone forum, so that's one I'm thinking about. Can't say I've heard of Doc's, so I'll have to look that up.

I am on Doc JS8 with Speedmod Kernel, and get 2-3 days with light use and 1-2 days with heavy use, fantastic rom, no bugs that I have come accross, fast and stable without any lagfix, well recommended.

Ive tried most and there is always something.

Well if you get the urge to try something new, go to the ROM kitchen and cook up a tasty DocRom. The JS8 base I've been using (with JPY modem) is solid and fast.

EDIT: I'm just about to try CM7 for ***** and giggles.

Tried and it wasnt satisfying :(
I didnt get on well with CM7
Best i have had is a stock ROM WJS8 and speed mod kernel with all Samsung bloat removed. Even then it wasnt 100% stable enough.

To be honest brummie, its more likely to be a hardware fault on your handset, an app you are installing or restoring (with data?) or user error (bad flash, not clearing cache etc), doc's kitchen JS8 roms are long past proven stable (not inc roms from the Beta, which may still have some issues under Gingerbread).
I regularly read XDA and follow the kitchen, not seen any JS8 complaints other than user error.
this is not meant as an insult or attack on you, I know just how fiddly flashing can be, but stick with it, cook a rom with minimal apps, flash it with a WIPE rom, don't install anything untill you test the base is working, then start adding your apps or restoring them, but Not the Data....

Could you be more specific? I don't get on well with my uncle, doesn't mean he has bad battery life! :p

They are right though... Those have been proven stable.
To have been experiencing issues, there must either be something wrong with the handset or the flash.

Im still on Darkys 9.5. I have thought about cooking a Docs ROM. Whats the MIUI is it stable and good. CM7 Not thought about. The thing I like about Darkys is when he says they are stable they 99.9% are. I have never has any problems with his ROMS.

Well I'll make note not to bother asking you stuff again.

CM7 is good so far, I've just installed the Gapps on there now and am going to try loading up my apps again. We'll see how the battery life goes!
