Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Bring up the browser menu and type something in the address bar, then drag the size button to make the keyboard smaller. The keyboard must be too big to fit the prediction bar on in landscape.

On my version it's not exactly how you're describing it.
You get the browser up, type something in it which brings up the keyboard but there is no RESIZE button anywhere.
I have to go into the keyboard menu and there is a Landscape Height Adjuster but the only problem is that everytime you type something, all the post scrolls to the top of the screen so you have to type blind.
Solution - there is a parameter in the keyboard menu that stops this but you then don't get the dictionary in landscape mode :(
It works in portrait though.

God how time flies the Galaxy S is getting close to 2 years old now, and by all accounts still is a very decent smartphone.

I miss mine got one when they were first released, never had a single problem with it.

Shame since I moved to germany I barely use my phone for phone type stuff anymore, whats the best rom (or whatever they are called like custom OS) at the moment, Will be using it just for games / calendar / notes / apps etc, with GPS and wifi really and to have on me so i can be gotten in touch with if needs be.

Holy thread resurrection.

Recently broke the screen on my SGS so I sent it off to get repaired under insurance. I managed to pick up a second hand Nexus S for £150 so I've been using that while I waited for my SGS to come back. Two days ago I installed ICS on the Nexus S and frankly, it's pretty goddamn cool.

Anyway, the lack of SD card slot is a bit of a deal breaker and I'm probably going to get rid of it but IF and only if anyone can tell me about a decent, stable, working ICS ROM for the SGS. I've had a look over on XDA but frankly there's so much stuff there that it's a little daunting trying to find a good ICS ROM.

Anyone care to share a nugget of information with me?

I settled on Team ICSSGS RC4.2 and Semaphore Kernel, works lovely.

The only problem I have, and I've had it for a few builds now.
The battery usage when listening to music is insane. I could listen to Soundcloud, winamp or even the stock music app and it'll leech the battery. I've seen 30% go in an hour and a half.
So far I've been living with it as the positives of the ICS roms outweight this negative but... Meh!
Should be noted that I am lazy and have not checked if a fix is available.

You want something with deep idle enabled.

I put Milestone 4 on and alll I can say is keep away.
I basically had a useless phone for 2 days and then last night was able to ODIN with Darky 10.2 Resurrection and I'm back to a perfect phone.

On Milestone 4 it did not recognise my external SD and I put things on every day so that was a major hassle (the forums do tell you that your PC won't recognise it).
In 15 minutes with nothing running I watched the battery drop by 10 :(
I couldn't get it to play any videos without a force stop and installed about 5 players..
I had to find alternative inferior SMS and alarm clock to the ones on Darky which I really liked.
I couldn't find the Memo I always use.
The camcorder 100% froze and I tried about 5 alternatives.
In all it is a piece of poo but it did scroll nice between screens.

The battery seems to be taking a bit of a pounding so far, but I'm gonna live with it for 3 complete cycles to see if it improves.

I dunno if it's cause I took a stock ICS ROM for my Nexus S but the battery life was really very good, even with heavy usage I managed to get from 9am to 12am(ish) on one charge. Was mightly impressed by that.

I know I probably won't see something similar using this ICS ROM but it's eating battery life like hell at the moment. Just hope it settles down.

Hi all have a i9000 coming soon as my dog mistook my omnia for a scooby snack and wondered what the consensus is on best rom to flash onto it. Not too bothered about battery so much as i always have spares but need stability and good features. Have read a lot of people recommend darkysrom and also gamerzrom but looking at the two both have there fair amount of people complaining about stability. Really appreciate any recommendations you guys have because as you can probably tell i am not that into mobile phones and this i9000 will last me quite a few years :).

I'd honestly leave it has it comes or just put the latest official update on.
I've been flashing ROMs for 18 months and it's pointless.
At the moment I've got DarkyRom 10.2.2 on and doing a comparison speed test against my mates non flashed SGS, his seems to load things quicker.
The last ROM I put on was Milestone 4 last week and that was a pile of poo.
