Samsung NC10

Someone posted older drivers in this thread that seemed to help him. Try those?

Thanks for that, tried the older drivers no difference. Have put on newer drivers again and tried using their wireless manager, didn't help.

I have now disabled the power management software and it seems a little better, with the occasional packet drop and sometimes a 5-10 seconds of packet drops.

I'd be really interested in other peoples results of sitting and watching a ping over a couple of minutes to see if everyone gets a bit of packet loss?

-t will give you constant ping.

Thanks

And as I write this I see it has gone out for about 30 seconds again.

Blah...Blah...Blah

Well it looks like its my shiny fast Netgear WNR854T is having problems with the Atheros WiFi card. Currently getting constant ping using an old Belkin Access Point/Router.

The router works fine for all other laptops in the house 3 and the NC10 works with the Belkin. You can almost gaurantee that if you asked either company they would blame the other.

What a PITA. So I anyone else using Netgear Access Points/Router with one of these?

Yeah, I am :)
Netgear DG834N - default config. If you want to know what version of drivers I'm using, you would have to wait till I got home though. Not had any problems my end.

Yeah, I am :)
Netgear DG834N - ...

Cheers for the offer chap, think its sorted now. Found some even older drivers than on the samung site or the cz site!!!

Here link

These are version 7.6.0.200

Samsung currently lists 7.6.1.160
cz site as 7.6.0.239

All very odd, its lucky its quite cool otherwise would have been straight back in the box and rma'd

I would be interested in what drivers people have though.

heh? what happened to the VAT cut? everywhere has jacked up the price by about £30 including one cheeky online retailer who have changed the RRP to make it look like its cheap...

Bah, tried to order the NC10 from 3 different retailers after my card got declined. Found out yesterday that it was blocked due to suspicious activity so I'm now awaiting a new one. I want meh NC10 :/

Anyone got a Blue one? I wanted a Black one, but they had no stock of it.

I just want someone to say the Blue one looks nice :D

Just unboxed my Blue one - it looks fantastic :)

Screen is fine, keyboard is excellent, no strange blue keys either.

Much nicer than the Asus E900 that I had before which had a poor screen, battery life and useless mouse pad.

Just needs some more RAM and a full re-build this weekend as I need XP Pro.

Also have a Swordfish sleeve case coming tomorrow, should be a good fit.

Just installed a cut down 'vista lite' on NC10 and with 2GB ram seems very very smooth and fast, no different than XP. This lite version has most of the background rubbish stripped out so vista is not disk thrashing all the time.

Only thing not working so far is the Samsung battery monitor thing, but I can live without that...

Created a bootable 2GB pendrive with vista on, installed flawlessly...

edit: must admit loving samsung atm, this is easily best netbook so far, and also have a omnia that love also... now just gotta get internet sharing working over bluetooth and i have perfect mobile internet solution

For £20 the 2gb upgrade is nice (Only 1 mem slot in the nc10, so you get the original 1gb stick back for other laptops or fleabay)

I have a 320gb scorpio in my (From a previous laptop) I did the HD tune test back on page 11 or 12 and although it is faster, its not by that much and also is louder and hotter. The original will soon be back in.

If you NEED the extra space then go for it, it you dont...dont.

I'm interested in a faster HDD too so would be interested to see whether it would generate more heat or not. Have got the Corsair too.
Edit: Thanks for answering my point about heat before I managed to post... ;)
