Samsung NC10

I don't have a NC10 but i do have a Acer Aspire One and i have to say there's a few people missing the point of a Netbook. There is absolutely no point at all in buying one especialy something like a NC10 at £300 unless you need the form factor. You can get a far better lappy for a similar price.

I use my AAO for work for which it is perfect as a Laptop is just too big and heavy.

My sister installed Limewire, downloaded a .Mp3 file, but it was a virus.

There's a lesson here.

Don't have sisters.

If that can't be helped, don't let them use your laptop.

Fill her IE with toolbars to get her back. bet she did it on purpose to yours, like Limewire has anything that isn't a virus.

That's the BT Shop price and they often overprice on most things. Plus it's an initial release price so expect it to drop especially once the EEE 1000HE is released.

Right click one of the samsung battery icons in systray and untick the autodim option.

did that and only get this:

cant find autodim ?

hmm thats the XP power management control panel applet that sits in the systray. There should be another one there from Samsung themselves - it has the LCD Auto Dim option on it. I'll get a screenshot when I get home.

^Thats the one. It resides in the systray with that little icon that can be seen on the leftmost side of the titlebar in that pic. You can simply right click the icon in the systray and just switch off dimming from there.

Well I got mine this week from the purple place, I had to have it then & couldnt wait for postage, mind you the saving wouldnt have been that great anyway. I really just wanted to see them in the flesh to compare sizes.
They also had an eeepc 1000h for £249 which I though was staggering value for money. Certainly if I was a bit more clued up on that model I would have got that & saved £70 for what is essentially the same machine

The specs are very similar yea. Cosmetically I prefer the Samsung though, weather that is worth £50 or not is a matter for whoever is pending the money I suppose. I seem to remember the 1000H being much nearer to the NC10 in price when I bought it a month ago.

Has anyone actually yet rejected XP's license terms and managed to get the license fee back? How would I go about doing it?

I would probably install Windows 7 from a USB stick - I assume this is reasonably painless? And it runs reasonably quickly?

Ditched vista and installed W7 beta on a 2GB NC10 and it runs so fast in comparison... From what I've heard W7 will be the OS of choice for netbooks and I think I agree. Also switched to chrome which is abit more light weight.

Installed it also on a Acer Aspire One and it also flew along on only 1.5GB (seemed to sit on about 850MB in use)

There are guides up on the net on how to install W7 from usb stick..
