Samsung NC10

Thanks for the reply :) I intend to buy 2Gb RAM with my NC10.

Did you using W7 from USB stick?

yeah, that guide above linked shows how to make the stick, it's abit of messing about but once made the NC10 installs from it no slower than a regular DVD.

the only hardware that didn't plug and play was Wired and Wireless NIC, but once the vista driver for the wired one was installed the wireless picked up from windows updates.

all the NC10 keyboard hotkeys work ok after installing the samsung display util, though it does throw a error when windows boots for some reason.

edit: take the above driver bit with a pinch of salt, I've installed a few netbooks with W7 and get confused which is which, but they all worked fine with no incompatible hardware in the end.

Hmmm been looking at this for a while from a distance as I want a small laptop but bigger than the asus eee having seen my brothers 7" (this will be taken out of context ;) no doubt) although I'm probably gonna buy later on in the year prob. ~august (gonna use it for uni and my birthdays in august) and the nc20 with 12" screen looks even more impressive :P.

got mine today from the guys in the purple shirts for £290.69 w00t!

2gb of ram on the way to me in the post and im installing windows 7 on it now, not even gonna load it up on xp as i can't stand xp anymore.

and i went with black, much more sexy imo :)

Good choice, black is the best ;) (might be biased...)

10% discount, nice! :) Worth doing a 2Gb upgrade although not really noticed many benefits but still cheap and easy to do. Windows 7 also works really well, enjoy :D

Has anyone actually yet rejected XP's license terms and managed to get the license fee back? How would I go about doing it?

I would probably install Windows 7 from a USB stick - I assume this is reasonably painless? And it runs reasonably quickly?

Is that even possible? bit like buying a bag of mixed veg but then taking the carrots back for refund? :P ok i know its not but why would they allow you to do this, youve bought the item knowing it came with xp.......

chances are even if it was allowed due to samsungs volume license you would get something like £20 if that back certainly not the full oem price of xp home

OK had it a couple of months - use it most days, and already noticing the battery starting to deteriorate at the moment.. :(

I'm on screen brightness 1 (for some emailing) and it's 40% remaining - 1 hour 52min.

I was just wondering. I think it's possible.

guys I just installed the 2 gig ram but don't notice any difference and my Win7 performance rating actually dropped 2 points.

The ram is working as my Win7 is now showing around 20% when Idle instead of 47% as before.

I just expected it to be slightly more nippy. I remember going from 1 to 2 gig on my desktop and could see the difference.
