Samsung NC10

Battery calibration takes Ages :p but is good to do after a full charge so the process can take place and you get accurate battery readings/usage I suppose!

10 people on my island have now bought one.

Considering a full permanent population of 55 houses, that's quite a high percentage that own one!!

It's more likely that 10 people would get one in your island though since word travels faster :D

sorry mrk for the delayed answer to your question,
my problem is very low volume level. What I mean is that although the volume is set to maximum, the sound level comming out of the speakers is very low.
I am running Win7, but had exactly the same 'problem' with the pre installed XP.
Samsung service then?

ive just noticed that one of my rubber feet on the bottom of my nc10 is missing :( anywhere i can get a new one?

Considering selling my Macbook for one of these, what do you think? My MacBook a white generation 1, 2Ghz CoreDuo, 2GB RAM, 120GB Drive and it's running 10.4 Tiger with XP under Bootcamp.

I hardly take it to Uni anymore as it's too heavy to carry around all day, the battery lasts under 3 hours so I have to carry the charger as well. I only use OSX for web browsing and Skype because it boots faster than XP. I am esentially using it like a netbook, I have a powerful desktop with a 24" screen in my apartment that I do all of my serious work on. I know it would be a downgrade in terms of spec (although only the CPU) but I think it would probably be an upgrade for me as I would make more use of it.

I was considering something like the ASUS 1000H but I think I like the look of this one better, they esentially all share the same spec. I might see if I can find it on te highstreet and have a play with it.

What about the 1000HE? that's supposed to be even better but not sure on style and build quality!

Either way sounds like you need a netbook :p

Yeah I was considering the 1000HE but it's not going to be out until March and I think it weights in at about 1.5KG. The N280 it uses is not meant to offer any benefit over the N270 due to them both still using the same chipset. Also the price seems like it will be at least £400 here on release.

hiya everyone
i have had my nc10 now for a few weeks and i have upgraded to 2gb ram and moved over to a vlite vista at the weekend
i have installed drivers as suggested but the blutooth seems to be playing up
for a start it keeps asking for additional drivers whenever its used and in the device manager there are about 4 or 5 devices related to the bluetooth with yellow exlamation marks
I installed a bluetooth driver from the samsung website as suggested by others and its still like it
it also appears to be a different bluetooth version as you have to set it to receive files before receiving them - even with paired devices which is annoying when trying to send multiple items from my phone etc

any ideas anyone?

TIA

Tried a search, but failed...

Has anyone bought a neoprene sleeve for their NC10? I've got one for my MacBook and like it, wondered if anyone could recommend one for this though. Want something a bit sturdier for when it's in a bag.

I've got an NC10 here, and I've only just experienced the low sound volume - but only when it is run through an external screen using a d-sub connector. Normally it's fine and very audible.

I love my nc10 for lectures. it just gets chucked in my bag with all my work, the additional weight from it is almost negligible, i carry the charger with me too because its so small and i'd rather steal the unis electricity occasionally :P

I also have to take this because the battery charge lasts so long that i often forget to charge it, its like a strange event that i don't associate with the laptop.

I say go for it, you wont be disappointed.

I went for it, managed to pick one up for £114 from a local PC shop. Couldn't really find it cheaper online when you have added postage. Some initial pictures:
