and i can still get it in my camera bag as well, got it from the annoying purple shirt brigade

Just whilst waiting for my NC10 to arrive, has anyone got MAME or something similar running on this?

Obviously, I'm not expecting it to run the latest 3D arcade game but I was hoping I could get something old school working like Kung Fu Master or Arkanoid just to tie me over on my boring flight.

ep it emulates perfectly fone, i've been playing 2player Genesis, SNES and it is also capable of some 3d on N64 too :p

I've scanned the last few pages of this thread for relevant info - I've got Vista SP1 working fine on mine, but I lack some drivers - namely the function controls for screen brightness and the webcam - the XP drivers and some others that I have tried do not work.

phil for the screen brightness you can get easy display manager that works with the vista plus sp1 i still have them saved if you want me to send them

the webcam works me via the new windows live messenger

Oh right I didn't try that actually. Have you got a link for the display manager rather than having you send them?

The camera now works a treat but the two other files I downloaded for Vista do not - namely the Easy Battery and Easy speedup manager?

Mine arrived :D

Already installed Win 7 on it heh

BTW, anyone know of any SHORT SD cards, so that you can readyboost without having one stick out?

Im having a small issue with the video out of the NC10.
I have a 19" widescreen, 1440x900 and I cannot get the NC10 to output this res.
The closest option it gives me is 1440x1050.

I have tried both clone mode and extended desktop mode, neither offer 1440x900 out.

Summed up im after the standard res of 1024x600 on the netbook, which I have and then an extended destop of 1440x900 on the video out, this is possibly surely?

Whats the obvious thing im doing wrong?

When i connect it to my 32' Samsung TV in Clone mode and Extended desktop i never can get the full screen, the bottom and top are black lines with the image of the desktop in the middle. like its being view in widescreen

Yes, thats what im getting on the 19" monitor, black bars across top and bottom, not very nice to watch a video with when the res is allready messed up.

I tried it on a 24" and whilst it DOES display at the native res of 1920x1200 when i try to play a video on it I get a lovely message saying "Due to the limitations of your video device this video can only be displayed on one of your monitors"

So I can't even watch video on a big screen

Well after much Googling it seems it's a well known issue with this chipset not displaying 1440x900 "out the box"

Surely thats one of the most common resolutions there is!

Whilst there are write ups and driver hacks my head just hurts when I read it, and I don't think I should have to go through all that anyway.

So if anyone has a relativly pain free way of outputting 1440x900 so I can watch stuff on the 19" im all ears.

I've tried Ultramon & PowerStrip, both with no success.

I can get 1440x900 from my NC10 without changing any drivers, just unchecked 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display' under the monitor tab in Display Settings. It lets me select resolutions from 800x600 upto 1920x1200 and will give you a native res on a larger external screen.

I've had it running on a 19'' at 1440x900, couldn't get it to work in 1920x1200 tho, it crashed when i tried to put it to my 24'' native res.

got my nc10 a few weeks back now. installed vista basic and 2gb of RAM, work a treat. mint for surfing the net and watching films. Plays Quake 2 and 3 pretty well tbh, good for abit of old skool gaming!

would liek a larger hard drive in it though, a 250gb SSD would be amazing, low power consumption. very pricey though aha!

Got my nc10 back from being repaired today (it went off late Monday) it turned out to be a faulty screen which happened to go bust after updating the bios. I thought it was me...doh. New screen fitted and back with me. I'm more than happy with my purchase and the aftercare I have received.
