Samsung NC10

u can have other files but the w7 did needs to be extracted to root of hdd/usb. so if u had other files on the same hdd just make a folder like "hdd files" and put it in there. If you hdd does not boot after u made it 1st boot in bios then check if it shows in bios.

One of my usb to 2.5hdd caddy did not show in bios so i had another adaptor which was sata to usb and i got power from pc's external source.
 
I got my Samsung and went away - what do you need to do to backup the origional xp install so when I enevitably bork my new install I can return to xp (I can remember if I got any cds with it - got from purple shirt shop)?
 
I have a NC10 and I expect others have noticed that the wireless card is rubbish. It shows as running at 54mbps but the signal is low or very low unless I am in the same room as the router. Is poor wireless performance a common complaint with the NC10?

I have a N1 router and was wondering what hit it would have on battery life if I was to add a N1 USB wireless adapter?

I find the wifi great on nc10, in my room (where router is) i get arund 2.6MBps and 2MBps from virgin media.

anyways been dying to install another OS but couldnt boot it from HDD so, i opened PC took the SATA from Samsung DVDRW and stuck my sata to usb and it worked.
 
My wireless is also full bars and speed on my wireless router(s) regardless of where I am.

Also when I'm on public wifi spots I also get full bars..
 
well my plan to use 2 OS failed, that damn OS messed up my install, i had to delete partitions....i didnt back up win7. kinda annoyed! But i think i needed to make partitions with that OS and install windows after.

now install 7768,
 
7068 runs smoother than previous builds - notice it more and more now when multitasking and booting in general. Wireless pickup is quicker too on all 3 machines it;s installed on at home.
 
Just ordered one of these for the gf as a b'day present. Picked up 2gb of ram as well which I plan to install before giving to her, and some cheapo shock proof case thingy (heard the one which comes with it is a bit naff?)

Other laptops get full bars in my house and it only seems to be the NC10 that doesn't. I am sat in my living room with the router upstairs which is about 20 feet away and it's showing as running at 54mbps and skips between 1 and 3 bars.

I have only had this NC10 a week. Do you think it's possible I have a bad wireless card and sould send it back for a replacement?

Yes the signal is the same with or without the power cable. I am currently sat in a different spot in the living room which is about 15 feet from the router and the signal has gone up to good or very good and 3-4 bars.

I only get the full bars and excelent if I am in the same room or within 10 feet of it. The signal only has to go through one floor and one wall so it's not as though it has a lot to go through. If I stand in my kitchen right under where the router is then the signal is excellent but as soon as I move 10 feet it is poor.
 
I just done a quick test. My garden is roughly 70 feet long. I am getting the same signal at 70 feet as what I am in my living room. Seems weird :confused:
 
Just cancelled my NC20 order, new date for stock is 15-04-09.
Main reason for cancelling was my friend convinced me paying £380 for a netbook is stupid.

Ordered myself the NC10, delivery date tomorrow!
 
Spent some time playing with W7 now. :)

I'm convinced the NC10 was built for it. :D The standard home install seems cluttered with junk and sluggish compared to it. :)

I'll definitely be sticking to 7 till the betas over.
 
doesn't mean it's actually slower...most likely the indexing score adjusted and fine tuned in this build..
 
i installed some older display drivers, works fine and i get the intel menu in properties. score went up by 0.1 lol 2.2 for aero lol any one with 7055 tell me what they get?
