Samsung NC10

I just done a quick test. My garden is roughly 70 feet long. I am getting the same signal at 70 feet as what I am in my living room. Seems weird

If your still worried about your wireless signal you could stick a Wireless-N card in. Picked an Intel 5300 up for about £15 and an extra antenna for about £8. Definately a worthy and cheap upgrade.

I've had my NC10 for a couple of days now and absolutely love it, just struggling a little to get used to the keyboard but that will improve over time.

Does anyone know how to delete Samsung recovery solution backups?

Rocking problem with NC10?

I'm using the NC10 on my holiday in HK and it's a joy to use but I'm not sure if I have a problem with it. If I press down on the left hand side of the NC10 (about an inch and a half below the left control key), the NC10 tilts ever so slightly but if do the same on the opposite right hand side the NC10 seems firmly placed on the table and doesn't rock at all.

Can someone check that this is not suppose to do that?

Also, on another side note. Does anyone know how to access chinese characters on the NC10? When I go on google, it's got all the funny squares and that and not got the correct writing/font on the screen.

Oh, I have another NC10 question.

Which uses more power on the NC10.

I'm wanting to buy a wireless mouse.

Would the NC10 use more of the battery power if I used a wireless mouse with a USB receiver than a wireless mouse with a bluetooth receiver?

Mine doesn't do this, are you missing one of the feet on the bottom?

I'm still loving mine. I went on a trip from London to Poole last Monday (2.5hrs each way) and spent the time browsing the net and watching films. Currently sitting on the commuter train on the way home. It's so nice browsing on this compared to my phone. It's tethered to my phon with unlimited net too, so no dongles :)

As suspected, Java development in Eclipse is "ok" but no better than that. The speed is acceptable but the small keyboard and screen make it less confortable. Still better than dragging a full size laptop into work though (I just dabble with the Java stuff while commuting or at lunch).

The battery on this thing lasts forever.

I sussed it out... Yeah, it has all the feet at the bottom.
The table in the hotel is wonky! Moving it further up, the NC10 is firmly on the table! ;)

Got to admit, the first time I tested mine was actually wobbling too, but that was due to the huge amount of paperwork underneath it on my desk :D

I've just got one in Black - 2gb in already. Not sure on the difference as it went straight in!

Couple of Q's

1) When I open the lid, does it make a noise (slight scraping?) beyond a certain point for people?

2) Drivers! I'm going to do an install of windows 7 7068. Is there a list of all the drivers I need for the laptop?

I used the drivers suggested here.

Received mine on Tuesday and stuck 7068 on it. :)

No scraping opening the lid for me though.

This post had everything I needed drivers wise. Really helpful. :) http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13768582&postcount=1566

This was pretty handy just as a second read as well. http://www.ademiller.com/blogs/tech/2009/01/windows-7-on-the-samsung-nc10-netbook/

Here's what I did for a W7 7075 install:

• Easy Battery Manager & Easy Display Manager from X360-34P – run as Admin.

• Synaptic Vista x86 driver – run as Admin.
http://drivers.synaptics.com/Synaptics_Driver_v10_1_8_Vista32.exe
• Realtek HD Sound Drivers for Vista
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&level=4&conn=3&downtypeid=3&getdown=false
• Marvell Yukon Ethernet controller Vista x86 driver
http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?driverId=101

BIOS:
• Under BOOT:
o Wireless card to “Last used”
o Brightness to “user control”

Windows 7:
• Wireless adapter setting under Power Settings to “Max Performance” for battery & power.
• Mobility centre – disable auto-dimming (buggy in W7)
• Display manager – W7 manages sound (not Samsung software).

mine arrived today :D
just downloaded everything in your links and will give it a try
thanks for taking time out and posting with concise links

Me neither.

You're very welcome. Post back if things don't work :)

Also, newer versions of W7 don't seem to need the Marvell Ethernet driver (see my post) installing. I'd leave it till last, and only install if required.

In general, if W7 can find drivers for a device, use those instead of the manufacturer ones: they'll probably work better.

Where to download latest drivers for XP?

I can only find them on the US site but there are different versions for each colour and model of NC10... (NC10-14GBK/NC10-14GB etc.)

Oh - something I forgot. The partition sizes? I hate partitions, i just don't see the point. When I install Win 7 can I change them? In which case how do i keep the backup image of windows i created using recovery solution III?
