Samsung NC10

I missed the gadget show the other night, will load it up on catchup. The NC10 is a lovely little machine. Also bit faster with 2gb of ram, and a absolute doddle to fit.

Still haven't seen a case I like though, using the one supplied. Think I may hang on till the gimp is out.

Around £14 for 2gb.
I've not noticed any difference from 1gb to 2gb. It's a netbook, if I wanted to run powerful programs, I would use my desktop/buy a proper laptop.

Out of stock now though. Plenty of other places and ram available though. OcUK have a 2gb corsair stick.

Fitting, one screw underneath, undo, pop out old ram and fit new.

Make sure you have disconnected the power and taken battery out.

I have. Big difference using outlook with other programs. Haven't got the ram to use more powerful programs, just make multitasking a little bit easier.

For £20 or less, it's money well spent.

Where can you get this 6 cell bettery? I remember someone saying it was about £30.

Although the NC10 my dad got may have one, it says battery life is 9 hours on 100% :confused:

A new tab called INTEL will appear

The graphics memory can be set on that new Intel tab. Exactly what the setting is called escapes me, but it should be fairly obvious.

How do you get into BIOS? I press F2 and the safe mode selection comes up, no BIOS.

Is the 6 cell battery standard then? Im sure i read on here that the 6 cell was additional for longer battery life

That's odd, F8 is normally Safe Mode selection stuff.

Try ESC, or maybe some other function keys. Sorry can't be of much more help than that: F2 works on mine.

6 cell battery is indeed standard kit.

thanks, its escape then F2. I am in the video (intel IGD) control sub-menu now. Total graphics memory can only ben set to either 64mb, 128mb or MaxDVMT? DVMT graphics memory cannot be set.

How do you set it to 256mb?

the bios? if so the new ones should come with it. press escape at the start then F2 to get in bios. now press caps lock, fnF10, fnF11, caps locks off then move curser side to side. a new panel called intel should appear.

i read on that on this thread a few pages back. also i dont think its possible to boot from SD card reader (yet)

I don't im afraid for some reason the bios was pulled from samsungs site, i just did some searching on google and found it on some chinese site think the bios was called NC05 or something

I have the new bios, am I allowed to upload and post a link here?

WIN_NC10_04CA - 1.7mb - This bios came with my nc10.
WIN_NC10_05CA01D0 - 2.36mb - Have upgraded to this bios, and have the gfx options.
WIN_NC10_05CG - 1.83mb - Heard this is the newer version, but can't find source and have not used it. 5CA is working fine so see no need to use it.

If I'm free to upload the files, someone let me know.
