***Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice***

Kind of still getting used to the combat. An enemy attacked me just now and then retreated and started circling round me and I realised there is no incentive for me to attack him so I just stood there for about a minute!

Mooching about Ashina Outskirts atm. I did go further to Hirata Estate but figured I had probably missed a lot out so went back.

Damn Owl was tough and irritating, got him in the end but after doing O'Rin first try that was a tough pill to swallow. Really little room for error in that fight.

Game's amazing, still.

Now I've got
the other Owl
to worry about.

Still not got far. Just beaten my first real boss. The horse guy.

Took me 6 attempts, but really annoying, I was so, so close 3 or 4 times!

Level design and atmosphere are From's best yet for me.

Go finish up Hirata, the boss at the end will make you more comfortable with the combat and there's some useful stuff to be found. The area is completely optional but should be done almost as soon as it's unlocked IMO.

I just killed the Drunkard guy and the fella who helps you survived... Then I noticed his health was falling and he'd been poisoned, and there was nothing I could do!

All right, I give up.
Father Owl is completely impossible for me and one of the most bull**** bosses I've ever fought. I've been trying for more than 30 mins and got to his second phase only once.
I can hardly put a dent in him and he can kill me in literally a second. I can't pressure him like other bosses, his posture is insane, he does ridiculous damage from practically everything, I get stuck on pillars and the camera sometimes unlocks. Even if I parry his stuff or Mikiri his posture recovers in an instant and a double Ichimonji to his back does like 1/30 of his healthbar... Everything up to this point felt balanced but this is just too much for me. It takes so long to do anything to him and then you make a small mistake and it's over.

Am I the only one that struggled with the first tied up ogre ? damn thing took me best part of an hour with many, many deaths. I got close a couple of times but then got greedy and messed up... Felt good to finally kill him though and that's only the 2nd mini-boss I believe  loving this game even though I am pretty poor at it.

Father owl

You can cheese him really easy, stay away until he does the jump attack and use mortal blade once when he lands. Mortal blade does massive damage, you won't even get hit doing it that way.

Thanks, I'll try to fight him the legit way and get used to his patterns but if all else fails I'll try Mortal Draw cheese:p

I can get close sometimes but stuff always gets me, 30 mins were enough for Geni but here it's like I'm just starting. I know he's not mandatory but I want the ending.

Yeah he’s a tough one. Took me longer to beat him than the last boss actually, but he’s definitely doable, and I’m no “pro” Sekiro or Souls player!

Congrats on beating him, though, no matter how long it took. He's shaping up to be a major roadblock for me and the first boss I didn't manage to kill during the same session.

I know he's doable, I wasn't entirely sober yesterday so it might have impaired my reactions, but he does feel a bit unfair:p

Nope, still can't do it, he's absolutely ridiculous. I almost won three times and a small mistake and camera screwed everything up. The feeling was genuinely heartbreaking, having to do that hacking at him for five minutes again to even have a shot at phase two. And dying five times in phase one again. I did so many good parties and mikiris, all for nothing.

This fight demands absolute executional perfection for very little reward and punishes you with death for very small mistakes. I'm disgusted by how this was designed. On YT he looks doable but for me he does completely different things sometimes and it occasionally feels like it's total rng. Even if I somehow beat him in a million years, it'll feel like a complete fluke, unlike other bosses.

All right, I've done it. No prosthetics, resurrects or sugars. No medicine pellets as well (used those up).
Just straight up deflecting, countering and Mikiri. And still no satisfaction despite doing so much right as this boss was bull as hell. Felt like a fluke.

I heard he was hard but still, I think it was solid 1,5h of trying, maybe more. My first roadblock in the entire game, everything else felt fair.

To be fair even an hour and a half is good going, i spent 3 hours i think on normal owl.

Lady Butterfly fourth time. That was awesome.

Was so close on each attempt. After the third go I was thinking this might be a bit of a roadblock, but then I beat her and it was like the easiest thing in the world!

I had so much trouble with Lady Butterfly when first meeting her. Death death death, rinse and repeat. Came back later after a few upgrades and some of those snap seeds and smashed her first time. Felt a little cheap but very good XD

The Genichiro fight is probably my favourite boss battle in any game fullstop and really shows how great the combat system is in this.
