***Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice***

To be fair even an hour and a half is good going, i spent 3 hours i think on normal owl.

Well, normal owl is pretty tough, still took me more than 10 tries easily and didn't feel easy at all. I'm certain I wouldn't be able to do him first try if I had to fight him again. Daddy owl is insane, though.

All the other bosses felt reasonably challenging and fair, Butterfly as first boss 3-4 tries, Gyoubu first try, Geni more or less same as Ashina owl as I wanted to learn him, Guardian Ape first try,
double ape
second try and some others also ranging between 1-5 tries while being definitely challenging but fun.
This mofo, though, ridiculous. He's harder than Orphan of Kos:p

I really should start using prosthetics and sugars to have an easier time as I'm close to the end. Maybe on NG+, I have quite a few sugars, snap seeds and the lot:p And loads of emblems:p

I second the above opinion, Geni is a brilliant boss.

OMG this game is just simply amazing, its bloodborne with samurai swords, making your own path along to the bosses, its difficult yes, and it does take a bit of skill to beat some of the enemies, but its an excellent game, I'm very impressed From Software have nailed this .....

Great game.

Just got to the 1st boss that Oniwa, think it's the one on the horse, how hard is this one? I struggled with the ogre so I haven't got much hope !

Pushover mostly, you'll have no problems:p It's not necessary but you can use firecrackers to scare his horse. Get the grapple attack skill to close distance on him and parry his swing combo, the last hit is delayed. Just have fun with him and learn what he can do, don't worry about dying if it happens.

Ogre was harder imo just because of the BS grab move. I beat the horse guy on 5th or 6th attempt, but most of the attempts were made when I got back from the pub, so I shouldn't have bothered trying tbh. When I sobered up he was much easier!

Ogre is annoying but you're not suposed to evade the grab, slightly delayed jump back is a lot more consistent.

Gyoubu is easier than him IMO, did him first try after Butterfly without firecrackers and some deflects, the boss that comes afer him might be a bigger skillcheck if you decide to fight him:p

Cheers for the tips, will have a crack at him tonight... That ogre was tough because of mainly the grabs and that damn drop kick that could hit you even if you dodged behind ! Also he waited for you to attack before grabbing you in 0.1 seconds, great fun though :D

How did you fight butterfly before? Is she the boss for hirata estate?

Yes, I did the Ogre and the general after him and went back to Hirata.

How hard is butterfly ?

I'd say it depends on how comfortable you feel with putting on pressure and deflecting her back when she retaliates. She's not too hard, IMO, but fun and reasonably challenging as a first boss.

She can be cheesed, or so I've heard, but I'd recommend fighting her fair and square as it will certainly make you better at the game and more ready for the rest.

OMG I need to get better, I'm really getting my ass handed to me, its a fantastic game, loving the sword fights when I get the timing right, block, dodge and get in for an attack and getting it right is so satisfyingly good, especially when its a kill hit.

What a great game, I was unsure due to struggles with some of the soul games beforehand, but this is a great and finely crafted game, the whole game makes me go google and see what I'm collecting etc does .. Lure is good.

Ok im at a crisis point, one boss is basically making me want to quit the game...

Owl Father is easy, i know his moves, his timing, i batter him senseless......and yet i cant beat him. The whole arena beats me, ill be doing great and he'll hide behind a pillar; shoot out doing a special and kill me in two hits. I'll be doing great and lose lock on for a split second and he two hits me. I'll be doing great and i'll get stuck on a pillar and he whacks me instantly......

Im not joking when i say ive tried this guy about 50 times and no matter what i do he wins EVEN when i know what he's going to do. I swear Fromsoft are trolling me and im a HARDCORE Souls player!

I could do with a nudge. I've done Hirata Estate and I reached Ashina castle, but haven't done any bosses there. I've done some exploring and ended up in Sunken Valley. Is that about right?

PS. Anyone else come to despise the phrase "does not open from this side" !

He's absolutely not easy, read a couple of my posts above as I faced a similar problem. I did him two days ago and it just takes a lot of well executed deflects, Mikiris and complete concentration while he can kill you in 1 second. Didn't even bother with prosthetics or sugars. It's a BS boss basically, the camera is problematic, the pillars etc., he's got insane posture and health.

It's like you said, you'll be doing well and die a second later. That's because you can't just be doing well, you simply CANNOT make a mistake for the entire length of the fight, which is the difficult part. The only thing you can do is keep at it hoping that you manage an attempt in which you're completely on point. I hate him.

He was a 1,5h roadblock for me, first real one in the game, I even managed Rin first try and a couple of other bosses. He's insane.

There's a boss on top of the castle but you don't have to do him now. You're basically at a point where the game branches off. I did him first, though, as it's an awesome fight and you can't really finish other areas entirely if you don't defeat him. It felt natural to go to him first.
