Show Us Your Motors!

what's it like to drive and live with @Hyburnate ?
Can’t really say at the moment. Suspension is hard. But once it’s in normal mode it’s not quite as bad, sort of what you’d expect from a car of its form. Handling wise, amazing. Because of its weight it feels planted to the ground at all times, the Abarth I had before was very light and a slight deviation in the road left my arse twitching.

It’s plenty spacious, the boot is a good size, in the front very comfy, seats are lacking some support however (I’m quite a skinny guy so that doesn’t help). Rear legroom is compromised due to the bulkiness of the seats however you could get two average sized adults in rear and they are unlikely to complain.

Love the little features, handle and puddle lights activate and wing mirrors unfold a side you approach. Seat adjusts to ease entrance and exit, once the drivers door is closed it motors into position - love that.

Another slight annoyance is it doesn’t remember the mode you left the car in and therefore on start up the exhaust is a bit tame.

All in all, I’m very happy. I know I’ve just slated the car, but that’s all the bad I can find, it’s not even really bad. The sound is absolutely phenomenal, I’ll get something recorded because it truly is outstanding. I’ve not really pushed it as I’ve only had it a day, but it truly is gorgeous.

Front grilles are to be looked at next.

Regarding the parking I’m afraid that’s never going to change. As @Acme stated, the spaces are small and my next door neighbour has two young children, I do it for my sake as much as hers.

It's a good looking car, though the couple I've heard have been a bit overboard with fake pops/cracks from the exhaust

I can't quite understand why they decided to do a fastback version but (to date anyway) not the estate - that extra bit of boot space/practicality is what makes these cars doable for me, doubt I'm alone in that

Depends what you mean by fake? I'd say sedated driving (how I drive day to day, by sedated its still quicker than your average car :p) it doesn't pop and bang anywhere as much as my Abarth. When really going for it, I wouldn't say it's all that fake.

One locally the guy is constantly on and off throttle making it do it, doesn't sound natural at all.

If you're actually driving hard and get the odd noise (as I imagine it's actually intended) it'll sound much better.

No proper build logs one for the ones pictured I'm afraid but they're all TDI North Turbo builds so pretty much drive-in and drive-out with a turbo kit and have the same set-ups.

Mine (far right) has slightly upgraded internals so is pushing for 100hp more than the other two pictured, the black one is fully stripped though and is probably around 180kg less than mine (I've only removed rear seats so far).

Our three are featured / spoke about in the below.

More on the white one below which has gone further than ours, though I won't be far off come January but not looking to beat any records. Engine is coming out for sleeving this winter and larger GT35 turbo fitting at the same time whilst it's off the road for weeks.

I'll probably do a log at some point this winter when it's gone through changes, but I bought the car in March with most of it already done there wouldn't be much for me to add currently other than it's history :p

Seems to me you would be far better off doing this with an S2000. 700 odd horsepower is not really useable unless you are on the ring or something like that.

Let's be honest, in almost all road cars anything more than 250hp is too much to exploit on the road on a routine basis. Sure, more is great for fast overtakes, but for example in the M3 if I overtake say 2 cars travelling at 50mph with my foot flat down I'm doing the best part of 100mph by the time I've passed them.

Doesn't stop us all wanting more though!

I think that's a bit of a sweeping generalization. It depends on the power to weight ratio, the way the power is delivered, and to some extent the drivetrain/mechanical grip on offer.

My TT has 250BHP, never feels anything more than "enough" power-wise, but the car is pretty heavy and the N/A V6 likes to be revved, the power delivery is smooth.

The 306BHP S3 on the other hand spools up and can become a bit lairy depending on the conditions, the power delivery is not smooth at all, it also (weirdly) weighs less than the MK1 TT.

250BHP in something as heavy as an A8L or long-wheelbase 7-series would never be too much to exploit on the road.
