Silverstone Fortress FT02B-W Owners, Your thought's please!!!

Just a couple more pics of mine. It's changed slightly since these were taken as I've now gone for a smaller 850watt PSU and tried to tidy the cables a bit more.

The cathodes and PCIe cables can't be seen with the side panel on. I guess the worst thing is trying to water cool this system.
The easiest option is to stick a H80 in there but I've always liked the look of 1/2inch tubing. I've got to look at replacing my rad with a single 120mm in the top recess
now because I've got a second gfx card to go in.

Another problem I've found is how tight it is in the top drive bay. As you can see my current dvd drive is a tight fit with the cables and the pci slot section.
I bought myself an LG blu ray burner and can't fit it there because it's about 10mm longer. I could use the next bay down but my water pump and res are in there :(

Nice setup, I've often thought about putting my CPU or GPUs under water with the same case, but it just looks too tricky.

Can't you get a bay res/pump?

I did have a XSPC Bay reservoir that my DDC pump attached to but the pump noise resonated through the case.At the minute it's just a res on the top of the pump and sits on a piece of gel. Can't hear at all over the fans :)

How has adding a custom loop affected your temps? I've toyed with binning the H70 and putting in a custom loop but maybe I'd be better off doing my gfx cards.

How has adding a custom loop affected your temps? I've toyed with binning the H70 and putting in a custom loop but maybe I'd be better off doing my gfx cards.

With that setup my i7 920 hits about 62 degrees max with prime at 4GHz I'm going to be changing that rad for a single 120mm and fitting in the top now to allow more room for my graphics cards.
I'm hoping I should see slightly better temps than a H80.

The other radiator options I've seen and toyed with are:

Triple (360mm) rad across the bottom where my current rad is but it would be thinner. I would have to rely on the 180mm fans to push enough air through it as I'd struggle to fit 120mm fans on the top as there isn't enough clearance with the gfx cards. The only other downside I see with this is the graphics cards will be getting fed slightly warm air from the rad.

Another option is to remove the 180mm fans. You can then fit either the 360mm rad or even a 480 (a 480 quad rad will run the full length and fit under the drive bays) Then fit 120mm fans to the top and even slim 120mm fans underneath (in the slot at the bottom of the case) I've seen a couple of setups done like this. Once again though the gfx cards are going to be fed slightly warm air.

Just found a nice looking rig here : clicky

Hi guys,

I am thinking about watercooling my rig but as a complete water noob I ned some advice about watercooling the FT02.

I was thinking about getting one of the EK H30 complete kits but not sure which one, eg. LT 120/240/360 or HF 240/360/

Also will I need any other fittings or anything to complete the installation?

Cheers

Has anybody put a 6990 in one of these? I did search the thread but nothing came up.

To answer my own question, a 6990 just fits in. There is literally 2mm between the end of the card and the bottom intake fans. I didn't think it would be ideal as the 6990 exhausts the 2nd GPU at the rear, but strangely the temperatures are lower than in my last case which had nothing obstructing the rear of the GPU....

Quick pic (and yes I have to finish braiding my cables :p)

Looking good mate, going to get a new HSF?
Thanks :) I may get a new HSF at some point, but I've been running that i7 on the stock cooler for 3 years now at 4.2GHz with very good temps so I'm reluctant to replace it!

I think the temp is lower than your last case as the Air Penetrator fan is pushing a nice lot of cool air into it.
Which surely should theoretically be a bad thing, pushing air into the exhaust and having two fans fighting against each other!? Either way, it works fine so I'm happy :)

Sooo i'm thinking about ordering a ft02.

Will it cool nicely with 2x GTX 480 in SLI?

Also, at start i will probably cool the cpu with a corsair h50. So i set that to exaust air? I wonder it has got 3 big intake fans at the bottom but just one at the top, looks crappy to me but I'm wrong here right?

Good to hear I'm wrong ;) I think I'll go for it, how can I make sure I get the latest version with the penetrator fans? Do they all come with it now or do I need the "USB 3.0 Version" or something?

Also, my GTX 480 SLI should be ok in this case? :)
