is that a 512 version or 1gb?

thanks for all the replys, if a card is 1gb does that automatically mean it need two power connectors, iam thinking along the lines of the evga. kinda gutted ive just got 280 ssc gtx back from EVGA RMA (raplacing one that died with the rest of my old rig) and now i carnt use it

It was this one...

I wouldn't worry about getting one specifically with one gig of ram, they really don't perform any better than a 9800GTX with only 512mb.

Hi All,

Im thinking of knocking up a fair tame gaming rig to connect to my tv (via s-video until I upgrade the tv).

Does the below fit into one of these? Looking at the silson website, they say a 250 fits into it.

Zotac GeForce 9300-ITX WiFi Mini-ITX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £113.99
(£99.12) £113.99
(£99.12)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.33GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail £103.99
(£90.43) £103.99
(£90.43)
Silverstone Sugo SG05B Mini-ITX Case - Black (300w PSU) £89.99
(£78.25) £89.99
(£78.25)
Palit GeForce GTS 250 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card (Includes World of Warcraft Trial) £86.99
(£75.64) £86.99
(£75.64)
Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel (KHX8500D2K2/4G) £48.99
(£42.60) £48.99
(£42.60)
Samsung SN-S083C/BEBE 8x DVD±RW SATA Slimline Drive (Black) - OEM

Anything I have missed? Should i get some right angle sata cables?

leaskovski, everything should fit into the SG05 without problems. If I remember correctly, some Palit GeForce GTS 250s have two 6 pin connectors (worth checking, as the SG05 PSU has only one). You will need a sata cable with one right angle connector for the HD and one of these for the OD.

and you need a Slimline Optical SATA Cable to connect cd/dvd drive link below

any one ever R.M.A a graphics card before how long does it take , they recieved the card last monday and it still says "waiting to recieve card"

i was waiting for a refund so i could by a card that will actually fit in the sg05 case but got board of waiting and went ahead and bought a evga 250 gts 1gb as the last part to complete my itx gaming rig hope i arent dissapointed, also ordered a Western Digital Scorpio Black 160GB 7200RPM SATA-II 16MB Cache hard drive hoping it will be quieter than my current 3.5" hard drive dam that thing is noisey

how much is a new evga gtx 280 ssc graphics card worth going to be selling it on ebay if i am happy with the 250 gts

I reckon you could put together a more capable gaming rig for the same $$ by switching to a cheap and more power efficient dual core and going for a more powerful GFX card.

It has been confirmed that the 260 GTX 216SP and HD4870 both fit in this case. The only reason these cards aren't listed is the PSU's lack of a second 6pin PCI-E power cable. Molex to PCI-E fixes that tho.

You can fit anything up to 9.5" with power connectors on top, or 9" with power connectors on the end of the card. Also there is a fairly easy option involving cutting out the front of the metal section of the case (on the left of the 120mm fan) behind the front panel which gives you nearly another inch of space length-wise, this would become useful if you wanted to go crazy and fit a GTX285 graphics card, you may have to look into replacing the stock FSP PSU with a more powerful Seasonic SF PSU.

With regards to the Processor I run a cheap E5200 dual core clocked at 4GHz on a stock Intel quad cooler, high multi dual core clock so well on the Zotac 9300-ITX board! It would be hopeless at overclocking a high FSB quad, not to mention cooling an overclocked quad.

An efficient 45nm dual core and 260 GTX would draw no more than 250watts at around 90% system load so its not going to push the stock PSU.
45nm duals tend to overclock very well on stock voltage so you could get a fairly impressive overclock with little impact on power consumption and no real increase in temperature output, again something you may not achieve with a quad in this system.

Oh and on a completely different note you will need a slimline sata/power cable for your laptop dvd drive :D

The fact that this is now repeated for the 3rd time emphasizes its utmost importance :D

I am under the impression that the GTX 260 does require some work with a Dremel.

While I am also using an E5200, it has a very small cache (2Mb), which is a major drawback. At the moment, OcUK have a very nice deal on the Q9450 (12Mb cache), and I would buy one if I was not firmly convinced that one should be able to buy a Q9550 for very much the same price in a couple of days' time ;)

yes it is important when i built my system i didnt order one and it meant that i couldnt install my operating system for 2 days while i waited for that darn cable, it was very very annoying silverstone should really provide this cable as they force you to use slim laptop drives

But they don't force you to use a Zotac 9300-ITX though, many ITX board come with an IDE interface which the SG05 has provisions for :)

It makes more sense to provide a slimline IDE lead than a SATA one I guess.

Imho the slimline sata/power cable should have been provided by Zotac instead of one of the two standard sata cables.

However, it is not that difficult to be a bit more thorough in your research before buying components, and to find out exactly what will be needed for a particular build.

Cheers guys! I love these forums some times. Much comical posts and pee taking, plus very helpful threads such as this!

I got an email through from a mate earlier who has some old kits he wants to get ride of quickly which i might take him up on just to get me up and running without spending big bucks. A 8800 GT and 2GB of Corsiar XMS3 for £70. That should bring the price down. Anyone know if 8800GT's fit in one of these?

The 8800GT is a 9" card and will fit without any problems. However, for around £55 it is possible to get a new HIS Radeon HD 4670 IceQ4 1GB, and a decent 2Gb 800MHz DDR2 memory kit is around £20.

tell him 2gb is not enough and the 8800GT is old gen and then offer him £50 for the lot :D

Seriously though if your gaming on vista you will do well to run more ram than 2gb, remember you cant just add another 2 sticks of ram to make it run 4gb in these little ITX boards :)

8800gt would fit, but as betaspin said. I won't pay the price he's asking. A pair of 2x1GB DDR800 dominators went for £15 with the fan on MM a few days ago.
As for graphics the £55 regions is a fun one where you can find great bargains, but for £20+ you've got some nice gaming cards.

8800GT's time is passing, still good for games a few years old, but not so good for new games, (i'm using a 8800GTX) I'd offer maybe £50-55 for the 8800GT and the memory.

yeah but we dont but the zotac board because it sounds nice we buy it because it is currently the only itx based board providing pci express x16 slot and if we bought another booard we wouldnt be able to put a half decent graphics card in,and as a result so we might as well have bought one of the lower powered smaller cases

Hmm, i think i will bin off his card and memory and get some new. It doesnt appear to be much of a deal. :D

Have to agree, it doesn't matter how cheap you can score the 2gb sticks you still only have two dimm slots so you are basically stuck with 2gb with no upgrade path other than buying new and replacing them out right.

I would say only consider it if you still use XP as 2GB is fine on that OS with any app or game you run (within reason)

If you can buy just the 8800GT off you mate for say £40-45 max that would be half the price of a 250 GTS and not all that much slower :)
