"David Moyes' Everton side has never been able to beat Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool away in 44 attempts."

Is this true?! This will have to change.

League games.

Surprisingly there are other teams in the league, and United are a better squad.

By that definition then the Premier League is also still a cup competition.

UEFA also disagree with you as they define the Champions League thus:

http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles.../Regulations/01/63/02/44/1630244_DOWNLOAD.pdf

This confirms that the Champions league is preceded by the Qualifiers and that they are not the League Proper.

championship.
c) Three representatives: winner, runner-up and third-placed club in the top
domestic league championship.
d) Four representatives: winner, runner-up, third- and fourth-placed clubs in
the top domestic league championship

If moyes does join utd, then what move will rooney do? I'm pretty sure they don't get on much do they? (or has that changed now)

And if moyes does move then good news for our strikers :-)

Can you not take this crap elsewhere? You're using fine print to try and argue that David Moyes has European experience by losing a Champions League qualifier for god's sake! Start a thread called "**** no-one gives a **** about"

Meh Moyes isnt a bad appointment to be honest, ok he hasnt won anything of note ie trophies or such like but the job he has done at Everton hasnt been too bad considering he never had millions to spend like other managers have at their disposal.

What will be interesting is to see that if he spends more at Utd unless Utd have brought him in and are curbing their spending in the future. Next season will be kinda weird not having Fergie around, pointing at his watch when there isnt enough extra time being put on:p. I wonder what NickG will be moaning at, seeing as hes always had it in for Fergie despite him winning 20 trophies for Utd :/

But one thing im looking forward to next season is who will be top dog and who will dominate EPL football seeing as Fergie and his midas touch wont be around for Utd. Personally i dont think Mourinho would have been a good fit for Utd, he causes too much friction within the dressing room and is a bit of a loose cannon...so him being at Chelsea along with their trigger happy owner will make for an interesting EPL season next year.

Hopefully it wont, this could very well be the end for Utd and their dominance of EPL football for the past 10 yrs or so.

As an Arsenal supporter, it does please me that Fergie is gone and Moyes may take over as Moyes isnt anywhere close to Fergie in terms of trophies etc. But you just never know, he could end up winning another 10 trophies for you lot.

As @DuckerTheTimes and @SamWallaceIndy have pointed out, #mufc next manager will be a 50-year-old Scot by the name David Moyes

Likely to be done before #mufc next kick a ball against Swansea this weekend

That's that then... Can we start a laugh at Everton thread once Martinez has signed?

Market reacting :

Manchester United PLC shares on the New York Stock Exchange shares fell 4% in the first fifteen minutes after opening following the news that Sir Alex Ferguson is to retire.

Starting the day with a market capitalisation of £1.997bn, the 4.05% fall equates to a loss of over £80m in value - the same figure the club received when it sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in 2009.

I know there's been talk of Moyes replacing Taggart for years but I honestly can't believe it might happen. I just thought the link was because he's Scottish and shouts a lot - I didn't honestly believe that Utd would be this stupid/willing to take such a big gamble.

Has David Moyes ever won anything of note?

I don't think Fergie or Wenger would have won anything with our finances at Everton in the last 10+ years. He's done what he's had to with the resources at his disposal.

I hardly think he will carry on in the exact same way.

My god you're bitter. If he's so awful you should be happy.

You'll be wishing Martinez hadn't turn you down when we finish above you again next season.

:p

He's not that bad, blimey. I hope our fans back him unlike certain others.

He could do really well, he needs a chance. If it all goes to **** then surely you should be happy...
