Sky Fibre Optic

I moved into a flat on 30th April and had Sky Broadband installed the next day on 1st May. The internet has not been working since and every time we ring Sky we get told it's an openreach problem and will be fixed in 72 hours. We have probably rang about 10 times now and still the same crap. Absolutely awful service. Is there somewhere or someone I can complain to about this?

Trust me your details and I will see what I can find out Xenon89.

What's a good router to replace the sky supplied one with these days chaps?

I'm sick of how bad the wireless is on it, been using the sky one for about a year and a half and fancy a change. Also any quick links on how i get my username and password out of the box?

I've just got the Billion 8800NL, seems pretty decent and some nice features especially for the £60 price. Easy to set up with Sky out of the box also.

Not to bang on about it, but replacing the Sky router would be against the T&Cs.

You can configure a router as an AP by turning off the firewall, DHCP etc. I've gone that with a Linksys one.

Yea but to be honest if they try to tell me off about it/cut me off i'll just take my business elsewhere, sick of the piece of crap router now. Although so many people seem to be getting away with it that I'm not all that concerned.

To be honest I've yet to hear of anyone being cancelled or restricted due to using a non-sky router but we certainly won't supply any data or support you if you do. Keep the Sky Router handy and swap it back over if you have any trouble.

I will say though, magicboy is correct, the T's and C's do state that you should not use any equipment sky haven't supplied to you with Fibre Broadband.

I'm about to switch to Sky fibre unlimited from BT, was going to go Plusnet but noticed they have traffic management policies in place?

Only issue is the estimated speeds Sky are giving me is 40-40 Mbps download which I think is a bug as with BT I get the full 80/20.

Just found it yeah, works out a fair bit more. After reading more about plusnet it seems their traffic management isn't that bad, they don't cap download or upload they just prioritize certain traffic and the stuff I use is all highest or high priority.

get on the phone to sky/chat etc.

Got Sky fibre pro (80/20) for £20 a month with no activation after speaking to them. 12 month contract. will shift it after 12 months probably.

Getting around 63/20 currently.
