*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I would ditch sky tomorrow if it wasn't for the kids - they watch all the kids channels and my son loves discovery channel etc. Stopped the movies and sport over a year ago now and never missed them one but after having them for 10 years plus.

How much notice do you need to give Sky of cancellation? I'm moving out from my current place in around 3-4 weeks and plan to cancel Sky and get my wife to rejoin, unless they offer me some amazing deal.

Cancelled Sky yesterday. Unless they offer to install a dish at my new house, give me a new box and a good deal on fibre optic via redemptions, I'll definitely go through with the cancellation.

even if they do offer the above you still won't be getting a good deal as your partner joining up on a new contract.

you have to bare in mind you can get up to £300 cashback on top of the new customer deals through quidco, etc.

anyone who doesn't cancel sky after 12 months then re-join under their partners name is literally throwing money away.

it takes all of 10 minutes to cancel and another 10 minutes to set up a new customer. for that 20 minutes you save easily between £300-£900 per year depending on big a package your on.

Cheers for that. I'll have a look at new customer offers and see what's available. Last time I set Sky up, I tried to redeem my Quidco and it never went through, so not bothered if it does or doesn't.

always tracked on my quidco. I think I've had £600ish over the past 2 years.

I went from virgin to sky then back to virgin.

I also made the parents go from sky to sky (swapping from dad to mum).

They all tracked fine. The rates change on a weekly basis. it's currently a max of £80 for sky atm. virgin media however is £220.

that's why you never extend over the minimum contract.

they will never beat new customer deals + cashback.

Where's the best place to sign up for a new deal then? Phone? internet? I want fibre optic for sure and just the regular entertainment package and landline.

Sky customer services is beyond crap. No way I will be renewing with them after this. I have been called a liar and transferred over 6 times to different people just to get the Movies pack cancelled which was done online and I have email confirmation from the 25th Jan with reference number but Sky have no record of this ??? The guy said "Sky would not send an email for something they have not done" I said "I have the email do you wan't me to send it to you" He replied "No as I think you are lying"....??

Tbh I'm tempted to just cancel the Direct Debit and tell them where to shove it...

Useless company..

Thats pretty atrocious that a customer service rep would call you a liar. Hope they recorded that phone call for the future. I'd put a formal complaint in for that.

They have finally sorted it and apologised for how I was treated. They offered me an extra 12 months half price which I said no too.

I need to await a confirmation email to confirm everything is sorted and back dated to where it should be.

Some of the worst customer service I have had in a while and 56 mins on the phone to sort a simple error on their part.

If I do not get the email by midnight I will just cancel the lot.

I don't regret moving to NowTV (with 14month sky movies). Only ball-ache is when you go to say ITV player it takes up to 2 mins to get to your program, cos they always slam adverts in before it. Really frustrating.
Still....saves me a fortune. And i can find just about every TV program i ever watched on Sky through kodi :)

Probably the same guy that called me a liar when I called Sky :p Complained about him and got a very big apology
