*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Offered 25% off for 9 months on a new 12 month contract, on the family+HD package at the moment

Same here, I was using online chat with them for 2 hours today and that's the best offer they came up with.

I can't cancel until the end of May (when my current locked in period ends) but will be cancelling from then.

Now to look for a good freesat recorder.

I got 50pc off the family bundle, £50 bill credit and no contract period when I used online chat yesterday. My service ended yesterday so I was in a stronger position than you I think.

Currently out of contract with Sky and looking at getting a better a deal with a discount, for being a long term customer (lol). Also got post from them today saying that our package will be going up £3.75 a month from the 1st June (lol).

We currently have the Variety with Movies Sky+HD package (no sport) and are paying ~£58 a month. I've just got off the phone with a customer agent and they've offered to reduce the cost to around £44ish a month for 9 months, but tied into a new 12 month contract. I was told that after the 9 months was up I could get back in touch to 'negotiate' a better deal, but not sure how better as I'll have 3 months left on the remainder of the contract. That all said, with the price rice coming hitting on June 1st, the actually discount doesn't look all that juicy.

I might look into removing HD from our package as we hardly watch any HD content. Hmmm need to look at other options out there. Is it just random at what discount an agent has to offer? Might just put a cancellation in and see what their retentions do.

Just had the email. £6 a month the greedy barstewards are putting mine up by. I only really watch football and even that's being gobbled up by BT.

Just got the letter for the increase, not long after I joined back up with them again.

I'm on a reduce price package at the moment after phoning them a good few months ago. I doubt I will therefore get to see any price increases until that term comes to an end in a few months from now...

It does seem that every year they are substantially increasing their prices IMHO!

life without sky is great - not much of a difference yet.

I do have A tv with boring old software that allows me to watch the bbc iplayer etc

but I do miss recording programs and watching programs that were recorded.

Incidentally I just logged into my sky account and it says 50% off - Is there a chance this offer will increase to 75% off?

Just cancelled sky after over 7 years, the recent price increase was the final kick in the teeth after losing champions league and there being other cheaper services such as Netflix. Can't justify paying £100p/m and that's without movies and champions league!

Best they could offer was £77 for 6 months then £100 for the last 6 months of a new 12 deal.... No way lol. They offered me free broadband for 12 months if I kept the line rental for the same term, I agreed since it was slightly cheaper than the talktalk deal I was looking at, though I fear it'll stop them coming back to me with the 50% offer I was really after.

Disappointed I wasn't offered a better deal after paying full whack for most of those 7 years, don't understand how they expect people to pay so much with all the other services like Netflix and now tv out there but hey ho. Their loss!

Guess I'll be watching most of Game of thrones on Now tv, can you get Now tv in HD or will I have to watch it in SD? Having said that the compression on sky atlantic was so bad it doesn't look that much than SD anyway!

Watch it on DVD and think about that... Everyone keeps thinking what Sky produces is SD yet it is nowhere near.

Obviously it's better than SD, but my point is that it's pretty badly compressed and nowhere what it should be. Picture quality on Netflix full HD is miles ahead of sky in my opinion.
