*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I'll be doing the cancellation next week - anything less than a 50% discount will be responded with "no, please stop talking and just cancel my service now".

wow- my cancellation phone call took about 15 mins max

I did seem to get the silent treatment for about 8 mins of that though where the were processing it - but did not say a word though ....

So if they offer you 40% - which of course is a very good offer - you'll show them by saying no? Hmmm...

I'm getting fed up with cancellation dances

in last 2-3 weeks its been

Sky
Three
House Insurance
Car Insurance

just annoying to have to go through the faff

anyone else find they are offered 50% off in the Sky app - but T&Cs not matching the offer ? (they say 35% ?!!)

Obviously it's better than SD, but my point is that it's pretty badly compressed and nowhere what it should be. Picture quality on Netflix full HD is miles ahead of sky in my opinion.

Sound quality is fairly poor these days too, watch any DVD, Blu-ray or even a download of the US broadcast of the same episode and the audio is far better, even on a modest audio system.

I would! I've got a 50% offer sitting in 'my sky' now and I'm still not biting. Not missing Sky at all, and we had for about 20 years!
Totally happy with Freeview, NowTV and Prime.

I actually think PQ and SQ is pretty good on Sky - have no complaints at all

certainly comparable to streaming stuff

obviously not as good as Bluray but good enough

this is run through HDMI to a Denon x7200w

Indeed I shall.
50% is the maximum I shall pay as I feel that just shy of £20/month for TV with NO movies or Sport is an acceptable level, not the £38 I'm expected to pay come June.

Varies by channel and programme, but a lot of it just sounds and feels quite flat.

Cancelled my sky and it ends 26th June be they did offer me 35% off for 9 months not 12, also the 35% discount does not include your multi room and HD. This is rediculis 35% off should mean 35% off your bill.

I was concerned after reading that but the 35% I was quoted has been applied to everything inc. multi room lloking at my next bill.

for future reference ....

do you pay in advance or in lieu ?

as last time I did a "deal" - I had Movies and Sport ....

I'd only just paid that months payment - or there abouts - when I did the deal for a new package without Sports- they did warn I'd loose the sports, but I lost them immediately - if you pay in advance surely I'd paid for the whole month of sports ?

therefore to remove it seemed super cheeky ?

Spoke to a guy in retensions and he told me that the 35% of was the tv packages and did not include multi room or the HD, I argued this with him as the 35% off should cover everything to do with my package.this is the problem with sky people get told different things and different things, this causes customers robe unhappy and no wonder they leave.

So if it's 35% off your TV package, that's what you get? 35% off your chosen TV subscription?

Not according to Martin in retention he told me that 35% does not cover my multi room and HD, I said it should cover everything but he was adamant that it didn't.

All the discounts I've been offered recently have been off the standard TV bundles only, so including movies and sports but not HD or multiroom. When I suggested that made the HD @ £11.75 a disproportionately expensive component of my bill (considering the actual 'TV' part was less than a tenner) I was offered £50 bill credit to compensate (which seems to be part of their retention arsenal).

Yay, yet another increase in subscription. Every 12 months seems to go up.

Tempted to just scrap it and install uTorrent. But will probably cancel and re-sign with some sort of deal and just waive F1 channel, not really enjoying F1 anymore anyway.

I really don't understand sky's business model when customers are finding that others have better deals leaving some to pay through the nose and others getting it half price, that must know that people will get wind of this and andfind that they are going to have unhappy customers who will want to leave especially when there are other ways and means of watching they channels.
