*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I thought HD was standard on all new packages now?

Nope. Just had a look at their pricing and Sports in HD is farcical.

Firstly you have to have the Family bundle with HD. Then you have to add the Sports pack onto that but that only gives you SD. If you want Sports in HD it's another six quid.

From a standard start, if you want Sports in HD then it's nearly £67 a month! No wonder those with the F1 channel via the legacy HD sub protect it so jealously.

If you can still log in to your account (should be able to) then there's a link on the navigation menu at the bottom right that says "left sky in the last 12 months" and all your offers are in there.

Thanks for this, i was going on my account then my offers and it wasn't giving me anything. Found this option and got 60% off, only got offered £25 credit though, still works out at less than £30 a month which I can justify rather than the £80 i was paying.

Oh wow, yes. Thanks very much for posting that you two. :)

I just clicked that and found 60% for 12 months and £25 credit too. Thats not as good as i had last year but that isnt bad at all, worth taking.

LOL, you're seriously trying to tell me that Sky do it this way to allow those who don't see the benefit to save a bit of money?

What total rubbish. They do it so they can advertise lower base prices by excluding the HD pack which the vast majority of customers will want.

Err no I never said that. I was making a point that a lot of people cant tell the difference between SD and HD. Nothing to do with the pricing. I was agreeing with MissChief comment that a lot of people cant see the benefit of HD. Surprising how this may sound but its true from experience. Show my Mum BBC1 HD and BBC1 SD on Freeview and she cant tell the difference, neither can my Dad or my in laws.

So true mate, my mum has Freeview HD but still watches SD, she says she knows where the channels are and she would not let me change it for her.

Well my Sky cancels tomorrow, and still not had any offers at all. Guess Sky don't want my business after 14+ years then.

Although having said that I have taken out a new Sky contract in my name as the last one was in the wife's maiden name, so 50% off for the next year anyway. Have moved my fibre from Sky over to BT Infinity 2 though.

My Sky Deal is coming up to it's end currently, not entirely sure what we'll be doing yet in terms of either looking at Sky Q or leaving but just wanted to ask some questions of those who have cancelled in the past.

I keep reading about these offers of 50% off etc, do these offers appear after you've notified Sky of your wish to cancel? Therefore in theory before it's cut off (I assume 14 days or something) you can simply re-activate the service before that happens?

Yes Sky normally call you within the first couple of weeks so effectively if they offer a deal and you accept then your service does not end.

I have seen people on here mention that if you check your account online after you have spoken to them on the phone to cancel the offer will be there but I'm not sure on this they have always called me and I have done it for the last 3 years or so

Thanks for the reply.

I'll need to speak to my brother and see what we decide to do.
