*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

For Sky Q - can you watch different channels on the mini boxes?

The Sky Q 2TB box will support viewing on up to 5 screens at a time: Main screen, two Sky Q Mini boxes and two tablets using the Sky Q App.

All 5 screens showing different programs at the same time.

Or

All 5 showing the same recorded program from different time positions in the program and all can pause play rewind or forward independently of each other.

Thanks. Am I right in thinking if there's no extra subscription for 5 boxes than there is for 2?

No extra subscription over the extra £12 per month for multi screen.

However you do have to pay £99 per mini box for installation, over and above the first one.

Not that there is any real point in 5 minis as the main Sky Q box can only work with maximum of two at any one time.

Maximum of 5 active boxes? The reason I'm looking is that it sounds easier/cheaper to use Sky Q in our new home than it does to wire every room with coax.

I'd pay £12! Not going to pay £200 though, that's for sure.

Where did you get that offer? Via the webchat?

I spoke to the support team after I found out I could not get 4k.

it was a bit of a mess to start,

I got a bit annoyed, because the sales person told me I need to pay £99 for the 4k box for installation but i could not understand why, they had already offered me free installation but told me nothing about me needing multi room, I phoned back and spoke to the support, this person was even worse, he told me I need to pay £99 for installation and i need multi room to use it, the last person told me they can for free installation but would need multi room.

They did not tell me about the other extra fees

I did not go ahead anyway.

Bah Sky are annoying, was offered 50% off the entire package (TV & Internet) when I cancelled but I told them I'd need to think about.

Had nothing better come through so went back on live chat and said I'd accept that offer and now they're saying they can only offer 20%.

Might just go with youview through BT instead.

Edit: Turned out it shouldn't have been offered and they could only do 50% on everything for 10 months.
Got free line rental for the year instead, so just paying £20 for fibre and going to let TV cancel (offered 50% off, so might go back).

These offers vary over time... TBH, sounds like greed possibly got the best of you? 50% off is a very good deal IMHO, yet you seemingly wanted more?

Had Sky on the phone yesterday offering 60% off and £50 credit with no contract, again only want it for F1. I asked if this included F1 in HD and how to go about getting that and I was told the £19 package would be fine... it isn't. Still 2 months of free F1 to the end of the season then cancel it again but I get the feeling they probably lied about the "no contract" part too.

I've got the annual event of "negotiationing" next year's contract with sky next month.
This year's deal was £54 pm for 10 months for movies, sports, HD pack, box sets & family TV.
Then the last two months are £80.

You think I'm being unrealistic to expect this package for under £50pm?

On a side note, anyone else getting intermittent sound drop out on Sports today?
Only lasts for a split second but its every minute or two.

Only on sports as well, all other channels are fine.

I have been paying £25 for the same package for the past 1.5 years(contract finishes in March 17). Let them stop the service then you will get a better discount.

I watched a little of the footy yesterday and I had the sound drop out like you.

Just put my cancellation in. Currently paying £40 per month for everything (1st year offer deal) going upto £80 per month after this month. Best they can offer is 40% off so £50.40 a month (for 10 months).

Problem is i wanted skyQ. If they matched my current £40 a month + £12 for SkyQ id have done it but not prepared to pay extra when others get better deals.

Will see if they try and tempt me with a better offer. If not the mrs will have to get a new customer deal. hopefully!

^^ Having processed the cancellation I've logged into the Sky Service app and the deal on there NOW is 50% off for 12 months!

If I had been offered that on the phone in the fist place, I'd have taken it there and then! Why the rigmoral Sky!! ?? Happy with 50% but may hold out for a couple of days!!;)

Yeah they wouldn't do a good complete bundle offer for me but I've now got a good deal by talking to the broadband team separately.

Free line rental for a year, so just paying £20 for fibre. Offered 50% off TV (will go up to 60% once it's disconnected) but looking for a cheap you view box now to see what it's like.
