*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

my bill has just gone up to £80 after 60% off, full sky tv (sports, movies hd, etc)

i currently have 200mb broadband with virgin at £40 per month

Virgin have a VIP bundle for £90 per month - 200mb broadband full tv package, sports + movies HD and BT sports in HD

loading up online chat to bargain/cancel now!

Just off the phone from Sky - Very frustrating experience - I have been with them for 18 years currently not in a contract - never had a deal in all my time

I currently pay £62 p/m for Variety with Cinema HD

Was offered £10 off on a 10 month contract

I can go to BT on a Total Entertainment package with Sky Cinema for £23 p/m

Should i ring back and try again or am i wasting my time ???

Thanks in advance

Phil G

Did you go through with the cancellation when you didn't take their miserly offer? If so, just wait for the retentions team to start calling you (or have a look on your My Sky page). Offers vary, but in general you can get around 50% off (on TV packages) before cancellation, and 60% if you actually let the service lapse.

No I didn't go through with the cancellation, just told them that i would sort out an alternate package and then ring to cancel

I go through the above every year. Bit of a pain, but worth it. Use webchat if you find it easier. I don't think you can get over 20% on that first contact, so tell them you want to cancel. It will be 30 days before service actually ends, in which time they'll be in touch!

I renewed my Sky TV contract a few weeks ago. My 60% off TV was coming to an end, was only offered 40% so put in notice to cancel. Went on live chat, was told as I was looking for a Sky Q deal (was on old HD TV before) to ring up...

So rang up again on a particular number for this Sky Q team. Straight up offered 60% off for 12 months and £60 for both boxes.

I do this every year now. Last year I could not be bothered haggling over the phone. Just told them to cancel it. Hung up the phone and logged into my sky and the 50% off offer was already there.

Any installation costs?

I'll have the same please :D

Sky called me on Sunday to run through things but the line got cut off so they rang this moring and ive scheduled a call this evening.

Already been offered 50% off all TV so will probably just accept and see what the cost of Q will be in addition.

Sky retentions cant quote for Sky Q to be added to the 50% offer - I need to speak to the Sky Q team.

Call Sky Q team, they cant quote because my account is still marked as to be cancelled! Ball park - between £200 - £300 ! Only way to get a quote is to speak to retentions, accept the offer and reinstate the account. THEN Sky Q team can provide a price for Sky Q - not before! What a pain in the backside this is!

Really? What is the cost of the Sky Q install for existing customers being quoted for you guys?

No was just the £60 for the main box and multiroom box.

Not bad £27 pm (after 60% off) for Box Sets package. Don't have Cinema or Sports as don't need either. :)

That's rubbish. I did speak with the Sky Q team after handing my notice in. The gent I spoke with cancelled my cancellation request. Reinstated my account, did the 60% deal and put the order through...

Jesus I'm getting my eyes opened in this thread. I have been a loyal Sky customer since they started, I have everything from Sky, phone, line rental, broadband and Sky Q Silver with sports and movies @ £133 p/m. What a mug I am. As soon as I can leave my current contract I'm off to Virgin.

Has anyone had normal Sky (non Q) with a 60% discount, then took out Q and come to the end of the discount period? Do I just call retentions when that time comes? As otherwise my bill will be going up quite a bit!
