*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

^ just sign your wife up as a new customer

I'd have to propose first :p

Although last time I personally tried to sign up as a new customer it wouldn't let me as my email address was associated with an old dormant account (the missus had the account in her name at the time). Used my Google account email instead but she doesn't have another email address to use.

My brother is looking to change his sky package and he currently has regular sky tv (complete package inc sports and movies) with broadband unlimited, phone line and sky phone he pays £120 a month but wants to switch to Sky Q with the same package he has now but with Fibre.

Is there any deals going about that he can get? I've said he might want to consider leaving sky and waiting until hes a new customer to get the best deals but if there are existing deals going about he would prefer to do that. He has been out of contract for some months now.

Thanks

You can get every channel with Sky Q and another box thing for £44, then you can get either free fibre or £10 fibre and either full priced line rental or £10 depending how lucky you are.

Just get on online chat and see what they say

I think its 1 year to be classed as a new customer, but get them to discount it while you are an existing.

It accepts +x's on the email address as unique should this ever be an issue :) ([email protected] for example)

Its a year anyway, so just switch between you and your other half each year if necessary.

I canceled my sky last night after finding out for a third time they have been charging me for extras requested I didn't want. So now that I'm in my 30 day canceltion period would benefit from ringing about sky q to get a decent deal on that or leave it for them to contact me as in after sky q but I'm not payin £200 for the boxes.

My great F&F deal is running out this month (only found out by doing very quick check and was shocked with price for bill in Nov....£80)

Am going to see if they can do anything for me. If not, will be cancelling and seeing what new offers Mrs S can sign up for

Well...that was painless.

Managed to get my current offer extended by 10 months at current price and then 2 months at normal. Am happy bunny now

Please tell me what recent movies and Premier league football you can watch on Netflix, Prime and freesat?

You can get any Bluray release via amazon prime and Lovefilm for less than sky... months before sky...

£9.99 per month with prime membership.

Sky is hardly current for its premieres :p

I saw all of these movies months ago. Grimsby was released on the 4th July!!!

As for football? I have no interest in watching millionaire divas with silly haircuts mincing about a football field while fleecing the proletariat.

I can watch TV in glorious HD with freesat and not pay for the privilege! Pause and record live TV aswell....

Sky is an overpriced outdated model that is quite frankly a rip off !

Not only do they charge 27.50 per month for sports...If you want to watch them in HD they charge you a further £6

Its daylight robbery!!!!

I understand the appeal of something like Sky Q for higher quality video, but their main selling point seems to be 'record 4 programmes and watch a 5th', and not the 4K. Who is recording that much TV anyway? Surely the vast majority have an internet connection capable of streaming, even at 720 now. I have Sky but I haven't recorded anything for years, I just search for programmes and press play!

Thats what Catch up TV is for...

I do agree with you. My folks pay for Sky and record everything even though they only watch free-to-air channels and programmes available on catch-up. Crazy.

It's not always that simple though. I have Sky for the sport, but I guess it still depends on what you want to watch. If you want Stranger Things and Westworld, you need both Netflix AND Sky, right?
