*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

12 months.

Long time to wait to get those deals. Even after that year, is there a guarantee there will be any right after?

I am curious though for those that keep chasing these deals, what happens once they've expired, cancel again and wait another 12 months?

I called up and threatened to cancel today after 10 years of being a sucker, managed to get half price fibre & TV for 12 months saves about £30 a month so not bad

They always have new customer deals 24/7, 365 days a year.

The smart thing to do would be switch to Virgin Media and take advantage of their new customer deal for 12-18 months (depending on contract). Then when that runs out switch to Sky then repeat until the end of time.

That way you always get the best deal possible.

Thats great if one has cable.

Is there a certain timeframe you have to not be a Sky customer for to be able to get the new customer deals? My Sky bill is ridiculous now all the offers have expired, don't fancy getting rid of it but the level of discount a new customer gets is insane!

Not really. it's often down to timing. Just look at all the differing posts in this topic about who got discounts, when and how. There doesn't seem to be a specific timeframe attached, just luck i guess.

Hmm sky contract is with me,
if I cancelled I wonder if my wife could then sign up as a new customer for the same address...:p

(the bills are getting silly now, £90 odd a month for sky/phone/bb.)

yeah - mine are £110 a month for full package, b/band/phone 2 boxes etc etc

Need to call them and at least remove the movies as I never watch them and tempted to cancel the sport for the summer months as it's only really the football and a bit of US golf that I watch when I have the time.

Going to ring and cancel today. Been having issues with my router and Sky aren't willing to give me my broadband details or provide a new router FOC unless I go back onto 12 month contract.

Wasn't impressed with the guy I spoke to yesterday, so screw them.

My mum just phoned up and threatened to cancel as she said she couldn't afford it, and got 12 months line rental free!
Might try that later.I think it comes down to who you talk to...

Need to cancel mine as I'm moving next month.

Do they send you all these deals through the post or are they more likely to call?

Might just say I'm leaving because its too expensive and then see if they offer a deal for the new place.

Also when you cancel, are they pretty good at turning the service off at the right time. Don't want to have the last week without broadband. :o

do not tell them that you are moving home. tell them you want it cancelled on X day.

sign up at new place as a new customer. if you do it any other way your going to end up paying more.

Spoke with Sky, a really sweet girl who's only just started. I've caved and signed up for another 12 months. I'm getting line rental, unlimited broadband and tv for £30 pm. Suits me fine, brought it down by £17 pm and I'm getting a new router.

Hey all just after some advice on whats best to do.

I have Sky with HD, movies and entertainment extra packs, it costs me £48 a month.

Next month i am moving house (Hope to move in around the 21st of June), what is my best option?

  • Cancel my sky now and call as a new customer when in my new house, which may get me some discount and possibly a £25 M&S voucher.

  • Cancel/Say im going to cancel and if they offer me a better deal, take it then say i am moving?

  • Or do you have any better ideas for me?

Why not phone up to cancel now and see if they offer anything? Tell them the new house has a dish and you're going to freesat. See what they offer. If the deal is good, take it. The moving home Sky do is free anyway. If the deal isn't any good, cancel anyway and get a friend to sign you up at the new address and you get £75 in vouchers each. (or watch out for a staff friends and family deal!)
