*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

i cancelled a few months ago and stuck to the freesat option from them for £10 a month (to keep the record function - actually worked out cheaper over a year than a freesat box) since then almost bi-weekly ive received a letter saying they are doing 50% off so i could have the standard package for about £12 a month.

they didnt ask for a code or anything and the offer letter said it was until the end of march so for anyone looking to get in on the offer just tell them you had a letter.

My discounts expired last month so I just called to give my 31 days notice.

The only offer I got was 10% discount if I agreed to sign a new 12 month contract. Told him it wasn't worth it and gave my notice.

Did they call you back?

Think I may phone them up to cancel, currently paying £82.50 per month.

Full Package, Multi Room, Phone & Broadband.

Would be happy with the 50% off offer tbh!!

Edir - Just checking online and looks like around April/May time I added the multiroom. Does this then mean I signed a new 12 month contract from then on??

They said they called me a few times on my home number but obviously I was at work, they managed to catch me this morning though and made the offer.

If you phone up and cancel they will call your bluff and not offer anything decent, you have to follow through and cancel, then wait for them to get in touch with you.

Last year I did the same but I actually had to let the contract end and I was without Sky for a few months before they offered me the 75% deal that just ended. The year before that I was on an F+F deal.

just had my f+f deal end ... means im missign game of thrones and touch ..... but no way i'm paying top notch .. got offered 255 before it ended .. nto totally fussed on mising it but i hate not havign the record option ...

will play the waiting game

Weve just rang sky asking to cancel as we didnt feel it was great value.

Rung up and got it knocked down for £56ish to £46. Makes it better value and means i still keep the f1 channel.

My sky is getting canceled this week, looked into sky freesat but don't want to pay sky £175 or the £10 PCM to be able to still use the sky box.

Just trying to convince the wife that the Humax HDR-1000s is a good buy.

you can still use the skybox "After" your contract has finished without paying anything.... you just cant use the recording functions anymore / pause etc

You can get good boxes for sat tv everywhere , you don't have to use them to obtain sky without paying you can just use them as a freesat box ,

get an f5 and an external hard driver plugged in and you have a lot of change left over from what you would have with buying the humax

Result, just called Sky to see if there were any offers going, and got Sky world, plus HD for £10.75 a month for 6 months.

30 day rolling contract.

Nice I just got a 25% off off a month for a year in the post yesterday.

The woman who told me That I would in no way get an offer in the post when I canceled can shove it up her .....

6 weeks ago I received a call from sky offering 25% discount on the price of the full package, after reminding them I had cancelled while on a previous discounted deal he upped his offer to 75% off. I now pay just over £10 for all of sky including sky plus, but excludes sports and HD.

If I cancel my Sky subscription, will the box still work with my current viewing card or will I need a new one?

I'm probably going to get BT broadband instead and hopefully get the new BT sports HD channels is why I ask, just wondering if they'll work if I'm not going to have a Sky sub.

The good news is that as of about a month ago most of the music channels are now free to view on freesat, Magic, The Box, Kiss, Kerrang etc though strangely not 4Music which is on Freeview?

So, on the day i was supposed to give notice of contract termination (Sky knew this date) they email me and send me a letter extending my '75% off discount' for a further 3 months.

Quite happy with that. :)

I'd never pirate stuff as I can afford not to not really a moral decision but I simply don't have the time to set up the whole system I've watched others do it and it's a waste of time easier just to buy from itunes or order the box set.

set up the whole system?

i thought all you needed was "the internet" and an internet accessible advice, even a smartphone is enough these days.

Is there a certain timeframe you have to not be a Sky customer for to be able to get the new customer deals? My Sky bill is ridiculous now all the offers have expired, don't fancy getting rid of it but the level of discount a new customer gets is insane!
