*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I think they have a huge shady customer list. ;)

Lol, what do you mean?

I'm talking about a legit argument for them keeping me sweet by offering to keep me on the same deal or cheaper (unlikely :)) otherwise i'll cancel.
Even at an alleged 75% discount are they still making money from my subs? If not, then i can understand that they offset my discount with those customers that pay in full.
But if they are, then they only shoot themselves in the foot for wanting more money, not getting any and conversely, losing what they WERE getting from me due to me cancelling.

You can't tell me they can't suss out certain customers always trying to get 1 up's on Sky, trying to call bluff. Especially those trying to get free boxes then flog them on eBay within weeks/months.

I'd of cancelled by now if the wife didn't work for them as an accountant so we get it all free.

My point is that she says they are really under the cosh there to up subscriber numbers for reporting to the stock exchange. They have given all staff vouchers with codes to give to friends and family to enable them to get free sky for a year (basic package) or half price on other packages.

Aah...see what you mean. Yeah i guess they will have them, but i'm not sure they'd care, they need subscribers.

A few years ago i sold a SkyHD box for £35, hardly a fortune worth cheating a company out of.

I swtill have my old boxes from 2 years ago, that's after cancelling for a year then accepting their 75% discount and doing a home move with all my existing kit.

I just phoned up to cancel and they wouldn't offer me anything, i tried to bargain and the best they come up with was half price fiber for 3 months.

I told them to shove it. I've kept internet but will look to bin that to and move to a fiber package somewhere else.

Would go virgin but not in a cable area boohoo

I was offered the 4 months free sky world deal, for old customers 3months ago(i had been without sky for 2-3 months). Which i took, i added skyhd for £10 a month. i rang today to cancel, as it would automatically go to the full whack. They offered me another 4 free months!!! Result! I nearly choked, but managed to humbly except :D

This is tv only as im with virgin phone and fibre

Shame, i had a rather moody female saying they can't offer me anything and ended my sub straight away and buggered off

Not too fussed as i could do without the £70 a month fee for it anyway.

I was on the 75% off for a year deal, which came to an end last week.

I phoned them up at the start of the month (30 day notice period) to cancel, they said I could have £9 off over 3 months, which I declined.

So as of tomorrow, no more Sky, I thought they'd have called me up with a different offer by now but alas no :(

Get in, Sky just offered me 75% off again for a year on the package plus £5 extra for HD. So I've got every channel and HD again for £18.87 a month :D Even better than the last deal where it was 75% off plus £~10.50 for HD.

They never offered me nowt.

The current 50% off codes dont cut the LL tho.
So full HD package (no movies/sport) LL and Unl BB Looking at a shade over £40
This includes line rental and unl anytime calls

Was looking at getting stuff thru work but can't even check whats available without having a BT line instaleld first :(

So it looks like a new tenant is wanting to setup a sky account, the site accepts everything fine but detects the 2nd
line that has BT BB on it and asks for info about that, there doesn't seem to be an option on the site of "no this is an additional line".

Be careful. Sky won't give you VAT invoices... it is in their small print that it is for residential use only (apart from the pub licenses etc)
Just one way they collect VAT from you and don't let you claim it back from them. I think they are registered in Luxembourg or somewhere like that.

Did they call you back?

Think I may phone them up to cancel, currently paying £82.50 per month.

Full Package, Multi Room, Phone & Broadband.

Would be happy with the 50% off offer tbh!!

Edir - Just checking online and looks like around April/May time I added the multiroom. Does this then mean I signed a new 12 month contract from then on??
