*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Why not phone up to cancel now and see if they offer anything? Tell them the new house has a dish and you're going to freesat. See what they offer. If the deal is good, take it. The moving home Sky do is free anyway. If the deal isn't any good, cancel anyway and get a friend to sign you up at the new address and you get £75 in vouchers each. (or watch out for a staff friends and family deal!)

I am moving to a new build. If i get a good deal then call up 2 weeks later to say i'm moving will they take my dish from here or put a new one up? Id rather my dish stayed here for my tenant.

Also am i correct in thinking it takes a month to cancel?

I had this situation when moving rental properties, I said 'my new rental property doesn't have a dish, and after considering it, the increased rent means I won't be able to afford sky.'

Result, free installation, and 6 months half price (inc sky sports)

Im not renting but buying a new place and renting this place out, but i guess i can go down the route of 'i want to cancel as im moving and cant afford to keep sky with my new higher mortgage'

How do you guys go about getting the new customer deals then?

My Dad wants to join Sky again but he only cancelled 8 months ago so can't sign up as a new customer.

Can he just sign up using his middle name and a different bank account to get the new customer deals.

you could try that or sign up in your name or another family member's name.

easiest way to do things is to rotate between sky and vm every year, if you can get both though.

I can't remember when I signed up if you have to pay with the account holders details.

He might be able to put it in my sisters name if he can keep paying with his bank account (though different to one he was using before).

what you can do is initially set it up in your sisters name and account, then after 1 month switch it back to your dad's account by phoning up customer services.

When we first set up sky we did it we used the mother in laws name and bank details, then changed it to ours later. I don't think sky care who pays them the money, as long as they get it.

Sounds like a plan, ill find a quidco deal tonight and sign up with the girlfriends name instead. Doesn't matter if its same bank account, address?

Seems a bit too easy!

it's simple, you would have to be ignorant to pay full price for any tv subscription as it is so easy to get a discount, unless your going just for a basic package.

you could use a FandF discount code if you ask in the other thread.

I am getting the full package

Entertainment Extra+
Sports Package
Movies Package
HD and 3D Packs
Sky Go Extra + (which allows downloading and 4 different devices instead of 2)
Multiroom (for 1 additional room)

Broadband Unlimited

Talk Anytime and Line Rental

With the following items all free :

Sky + HD Box
Sky HD Box
Sky HUB
Install and Setup

all for £65 per month

The only thing I am missing is ESPN which I can add for £10 per month if need be, otherwise I have the top of everything I can receive, no Sky Fibre in my area.

In 12 months I shall cancel and then take up VM's new customer offer unless Sky let me keep the same package for the same price.

Bought a Sky+ HD Box and a wireless connector off gumtree for £25 (otherwise from Sky it would have been £218), so the multiroom box can be swapped over and I will just tell the engineer to use a double feed for both rooms instead of double feed for one and single feed for the other.
