*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Let us know how you get on with that f1 option. it is sometning I am starting to consider as the cost is becoming prohibitive.
Last time I watched it on Ch4 I thought the quality of picture looked better than skys UHD option.
Been using it since the start of the season and so far I'm happy with it. You'll need a VPN to use it and the easiest way to pay is via Google Play. I use my normal debit card, drawn on a UK bank. I also pay monthly, rather than annually, as you never know if you'll get booted off at any point for actually being in the UK.

When I registered for an F1TV account I set my location as the USA and set my VPN to a location in the USA and it works fine.

I do all this using the F1TV app on my Nvidia Shield, picture quality is fine at 1080p, although onboard shots are definitely a bit lower quality.

Trying to watch live on the phone app is a waste of time, it's very pixelated and forcing higher resolutions just causes infinite buffering.

But other than that it's a small price to pay against the, frankly ridiculous, price Sky charge for the same content. In fact you get more with F1TV pro, as you have the full F1 race archive as well.

my 18 month deal is due to expire next month, they notified me via email that it would be around £90 for sky, sports and fibre with HD.
i contacted them to cancel last week.

today i got a letter in the post offering me sky sig and sports for £33, so around £55 with fibre. i wasnt expecting anything so fair play.
im not going to make a decision yet, i wonder if they would go any lower.

knowing sky, this probably doesnt include all the HD packages that end up costing another £10
so the £33 offer did include HD for sports but not HD for Signature, they wanted an extra £4 for that taking it to £37

On the phone to sky now, been offered Sig and Netflix for £22 which seems standard but the same letter also says Ultra HD for £1 (no mention of HD) which would be a decent deal. They seem to have an issue with my BB offer which is a £10 discount I got when i agreed to renew my TV 6 months ago but went back on, they didn't cancel the BB offer which means they can't stack the offers it seems.

Ok so they have offered me Sig £17, Netflix £5, HD £4 and Ultra £1 so £27pm with £5 off the 1st 2 months. Which is what I signed up to 2 years ago, asked about Movies + Sports which they offered for an extra £11pm plus Sports HD £2 which is decent. Agreed to it all for £40pm, £10 fee waived and £10 credit. I already pay £11 for Netflix in HD so basically added Sig, Movies, Complete Sports, Sports HD and Ultra HD for £29pm, still hurts having to pay for HD but seems they wont budge on it.

Ah cheers for the info.
The conduit is about 8 metres away from where I would like to put the ONT...

So... Open reach engineer came round.
Really top fella. Explained everything to me, gave me options about where to mount the ONT, routing the cable around the house. Gentlemen.

Im currently onthe 35mbit... which i want to bump later.

Ping.... 3ms... unbelievable..... we live in a day and age where the ping to an internet server... is 3ms.....
Incrredible.

Bufferbloat grade.... A....

I've sent them an email and am still waiting for a response they promised within 24 hours.

I got through finally... Best they could offer on the full package was £110 (currently paying £88) which is for all the TV channels, netflix uhd etc (except multi room) and 150mbps broadband (max in my area). Ended up just cancelling and have taken out new deal now with the friends and family code. £77 now for next 18 months which I'm happy with.

I'm cancelling mine as I'm paying £36/month for basic package plus HD. Absolute rip off and not sure why it's taken me so long to cancel.

Even though I'm out of contract I'm finding it difficult to cancel. I was waiting on chat for 90 minutes yesterday before giving up. Chat is unavailable this morning, and I'm not willing to sit on the phone listening to music for an undetermined amount of time. I did send them an email which they finally acknowledged, but that's a pretty useless function as the reply just contains a link to their contact page.

Edit: Finally got through earlier this evening and managed to give notice of my cancellation.

I got the same letter today. £33 for signature and sports. Doesn't mention HD on the letter but thanks for the info of it being £4. Says on letter UHD is £2, Netflix £5 and multiroom £11 so should be £55 a month. Less £16 for Netflix 4k standalone which I'd be paying for anyway, just £39 a month. Not bad as I took now TV sports with FHD boost for £25 first month and £30 a month moving forward as an alternative on rolling.

Will be getting in touch to take that on I think. Much better than the £70+ they quoted me when I cancelled.

Turned out to be £53 a month for Sky Signature / Sports / Netflix / HD / UHD / Multiroom with first 2 months £48 a month (2 months free Netflix) + £10 set up fee. Considering I was going to be paying £30 a month for Now TV Sports + Boost and £16 a month for Netflix in Sky's absence... not bad. Quite a discount vs the £63.50 a month I was paying before (albeit I lose Sky kids which we found our kid never used).

Like trying to draw blood from a stone getting a good deal this time around. I phoned them on the last day of my 30 days cancellation period, years gone by they'd email, post and phone, but none of that this time around, just one email saying I could change my mind.

Anyway managed to get Sky Signature, Sports, Sports HD, Netflix for £44 a month, which I think is a decent deal. A bit cheaper than the £51 I was paying last time.

I'm stuck with Sky until March.

Sky is barely used by anoyne in the house bar me for the F1.

I did a test run with VPN and F1TV whilst on holiday in Croatia. Worked fine on my phone.

Tried it at home on the Shield. Again, all good. Quality isn't as good as UHD but perfectly watchable.

I will be binning Sky off soon as possible for F1TV.

It's rubbish isn't it!

Yep lol

The guy we spoke to had no idea we had received a letter but knew the renew letter offer existed. Think offer runs for 1 or 2 more days. If anyone is mid cancellation and wants to stay, worth trying to blag it saying you are calling about the offer? He will ask what each element costs which I detailed above ^. Think sig / sports / netflix / hd / uhd should come to £44 a month.

thats actually really good seeing as you're paying less than what i was quoted for a better package, i might call them up and see if they will match that.

Yeah definitely give them a call. I can screen shot my bill if you like to send to them. I’ve only been with sky for 2 years so wasn’t even a long customer offer, they just offered that deal with no haggling.
