*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

This is why I want away from Sky TV. Their business model is built around getting you on a deal, doubling the price when your contract expires and hoping you don’t notice!

So Ive Just had the offer come through for an 18 month contract and to be fair it was better than I thought.

In addition will be Sky q , multi room, netflix and UHD but it’s coming in at around £102 a month . So I’ll be going again with them .

Adding up Now tv and ultra hd Netflix doesn’t come in that much cheaper and the difference is what I’m happy to pay for to watch F1 in UHD.

Seems expensive still, I'm paying £56 for pretty much the same package albeit without broadband.

Sky F1 in UHD on Sky isn't that amazing to be honest, if you watch Drive to Survive on Netflix it looks much, much better.

Get F1TV Pro for £80 a year and watch it in 1080p (which be honest doesn't look much worse than Sky UHD) and save a fortune. Well, that's what I'm going to do.

Let us know how you get on with that f1 option. it is sometning I am starting to consider as the cost is becoming prohibitive.
Last time I watched it on Ch4 I thought the quality of picture looked better than skys UHD option.

I will do but they have me by the shackles for another year. Then I’ll be free. We barely use the the box day to day beyond normal television which we can get on Freesat.

Keep getting the come back letter offering me signature plus Netflix for £22 instead off £33. Did try live chat to see if they would do sig, Netflix plus hd for £20 but they couldn’t plus said my bb discount was not compatible with the offer. Waiting for retentions to call again to see what they say. Im not getting Netflix free anymore on my crypto card so an extra £9pm seems worth it for signature.

My mums out of contract currently on £32 a month for sky signature been a customer since 2014. I recieved a sms that she was eligible for a free upgrade from sky hd+ to sky Q for £27 over 18 mths. The current skypackage includes Sky Asia which is free. I would like to upgrade and get a lower price. Has anyone got a better deal ?

update: managed to get through today and offered a deal for £18 over 18 mths with sky q box added , so finally a result :)

I left sky 2 months ago and just installed an aerial and splitter box for 3 rooms in the house. The picture is pretty poor on Freeview but it makes a huge difference not paying 80 quid a month.

They have contacted me several times via mail and phone but everytime they can't match what I currently pay.... Which is nothing.

If only the UK scraped the TV licence

I've been emailed a deal of £35 for Signature, Cinema and Sports. Doesn't mention anything about HD, but there is an offer further down the email for £2 for UHD so would assume the £35 has HD included.

Might go for that, but only if they take away the £10 on off fee which is nonsense as I'm still 'connected' until mid September.

Really thinking of cancelling mainly due to had enough of paying sky high prices without even being able to get HDR or 4k unless i pay them another £15 extra per month for a sky Q box and would also have to get tied into a new 18 month contract :(

This really is nothing but a joke

Just sacked sky off, virgin offerd me 500meg BB,230 TV channels, bt sport's and a sim card with 10gb data for £54. That's half the price sky wanted for 10x faster BB same TV package+ bt sport's and a sim card.

Folks... I noticed that the conduit which most probably the fibre will come out of... is located on the other side of my house...

I'm concerning about this because when Openreach come round to fit the fibre...
Would they be able to relocate the box on the other side of my house because that is where my office is....

or am I screwed?

When you ring up to cancel or get a deal you can ask them for a new box usually. I was using the Sky HD box and as part of my renegotiation they upgraded my box to the Sky Q box. You should be able to get the UHD Sky Q box if you push for it.

Sky also have a deal on at the moment for half price HD and UHD that brings it down to £6 per month. It ends soon though so you don't want to sign up to this before you get your new box sorted. :(

Still can't believe there's a charge for HD and UHD though!

I wouldn't be able to get that deal anyway as i already have HD

I taken this quote below from the replies at the bottom of that deals page
Just called Sky team and Aparentley the offer is only available to vip members who don't have either HD or UHD in their subscription yet. This is disappointing that knowing you have it but cannot get the discount. This VIP thing is pointless as I never been able to get any benefits from it. Thanks sky team

Just cancel it. Simple as that.

Never pay the admin fee.
