Before I phone up, am I right in saying the packages (basically) are:-
Entertainment: £21.50
Entertainment Extra: £27 - Additionally gives you all the kids/documentary/music etc channels
Entertainment Extra+: £32 - Additionally gives you HD & 3D channels?

Is that about it?

What I'm confused about is we used to pay £10 odd extra a month for HD and this gave us the Formula 1 channel?

By the looks of it now, the charges have changed and the Entertainment Extra+ for an additional £5 is for the HD channels? So does this give us the Formula 1 channel? If so why isn't it listed? - http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/entertainment-extra-plus/

In our bill it states we're paying:-
Entertainment Extra HD - £35.75

What's that?

In the new packages f1 is only including in sports.

Ah... So I'm under an old tariff? And if I were to try and get the same under the new one it would be more expensive?

Closest I could get now would be the Entertainment Extra+ for less money, but I'd lose F1?

I was paying like £80 odd for unlimited broadband, phoneline, all channels except movies, (including ESPN), and of course wanted the btsports package once espn lost the footie. Yeah 80 quid is a fair amount, but due to the kids I rarely now get down the pub for the footie/rugby, so 2 trips the pub in a month would easy see off 80 quid! Anyways I phoned them up with the intention of getting at least the reduction of the cost to individually sub to bt sports through sky. Well after a good moan, I managed to get it down to 53/a month I think saving 19 quid, and that was without the 10 quid for espn!! On top of this they sent me a new router for free and I managed to get them to throw in a new 2 terabyte box for £49.99, all on a 12 month contract. Quite happy with the result, still paying lots more than most on here, but I'm happy.

And that's without changing your package? ie: reducing content?

yeah still get everything I had, bar obviously ESPN sub which was £10 a month. If I'd left it as was, I think it would have been £73. BUT, then I would have had to factor in the BTsports, who love to charge more for the HD!! and it isn't multiroom. (I think the HD sub from BT was 15 squid? it certainly was more than espn hd)

I still pay a large whack just for television, internet, and the barely used phone. I'm quite lucky because I was with Virgin, but when I moved, there's like student ville between me and their major hub, so my speedtest was 30 meg for 10secs, then 0.5 for 1 min. And that was between 12pm and about 2 am!! Screwed for anything really! Had a new bt line stuck in with sky and get a nice stable 10.5, so I'm quite happy with that.

I previously had the 500meg HD box from sky, trust me the 2 terabyte is well worth getting if you can swing it for 49.99. Normal charge like silly £200+, and now I record almost everything in HD and never worry about space. I have a 1080 panny and as I love sports, there was no way I could go back to SD, if you are used of HD, it really is chalk and cheese. I'm a big fan of rugby and UFC as well as footie, so getting the HD bt sports package was a no brainer.

Like I said, I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old daughter, so pubbing it every week has gone out the window! So I decided have all my sports and kids channels and actually save a bit of cash, used to cain maybe 100+ each weekend, still meet up once a fortnight for snooker, or down the pub for a bit of socialising, but usually get some tinnies or a nice drop of wine, have a chinese or pizza and chill. (AND save money!) Works for me. On the subject of deals, this is the umpteenth time I've rang sky or virgin and got 10-20 off a month. It really is worth it. Mind, if you are a 'premium' user, ie get the biggest packages etc, you usually get the biggest savings offered. Good luck

(And sorry for the essay!)

I had similar package and just rang up as my half price offer had just run out and they offered a measly £5 off a month and said could only offer one deal per call. Said I was just going to ring BT and sort out switching to them then call back to cancel.

Might have more luck next call as girl I was speaking to was clearly being coached whilst I was on the phone so assuming they were sticking to the rules.

SKY ends for me on 3rd Oct.

Got a phone call from a girl on retentions.

Usual stuff about prices, I said that I would be surprised if she could reduce as I was on a half-price deal atm.

She got shirty and said "Well, I'll put you down as not wanting a reduction..." CLICK.

Going to miss the Ashes [as long as |England do well, ofc :D ]

Ah but they no longer include F1 HD in the HD pack.. so if you like F1 then coming back might be a shock or too expensive! ;)

When did they change that?

I'm on the verge of cancelling and going the freesat route using the Sky box, however am I right in that I won't be able to record anything?

I downgraded from their fibre product this year and they said I was the first to do this, err yeah right.

TBH the only thing I seem to watch is Sky Atlantic and use the Sky Go app. Tempted to cancel and then see how we get on, as others say we can always return

Paying circa £45 a month for Sky Entertainment extra, HD and broadband unlimited.

http://www.sky.com/products/tv-packs/entertainment-extra-plus/ - when they launched this (and upped the prices) they quietly dropped F1 HD from the "HD pack" as the HD pack doesnt really exist anymore.

Yes, if you use their box you cannot record (but I believe they will let you if you pay £10 a month or similar!)

I guess you could always download the shows you watch on Atlantic ;)

£10 a month for recording!! Might as well have the basic sky then :( - sucks

Do have Apple TV so I may have a look at the apple store to see if any of the series I watch are there.

I noticed this too.

In our bill it states we're paying:-
Entertainment Extra HD: £35.75

This package doesn't exist anymore. The closest thing is:-
Entertainment Extra+: £32 which does NOT include Sky F1 HD.

So some of us who took out the old £10 option years ago for the HD channels also got F1 HD thrown in. Seems we're still on some contrived package including it. If you wanted the same now, you'd have to pay more and get more sports channels?

I have F1 removed back in the summer and they only reduced the bill by £5.

This is what's listed Entertainment Extra+ £29.50

Time to look at other FreeSat box options. Also need to look at other broadband suppliers, I think Sky is pretty cheap when it comes to broadband.

I do use Cloud wifi quite a bit

Huh? Entertainment Extra+ is £32???

As for Sky's broadband being cheap... £0 is pretty cheap :)

That said, I'm on unlimited for £7.50 month.
