*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Look at your options and cancel it. We don't regret leaving Sky at all.

Yeah I might have to evaluate it all. There's already a plex ubuntu server on the network with a wintv stuck in it, so freeview is all sorted anyway.
It's only a dual one though, but I can't see it being much of a problem.

We do house share and split the cost 50/50, so need to think of that.

Depending on this funny business with password sharing on netflix, that might be the final straw plus the sky stream boxes are utter trash!

Cannot see the point in the Sky stream boxes

So far so good with Virgin TV, we haven't used it much but the UI isn't bad at all and it's quick enough.

Worked out we are saving between £30 and £40 a month for the TV side of things, and we have backup broadband. Sky text to say they're sending a box to have their kit back.

The best part about Virgin TV when I was with them was the instant on demand. No waiting 15-30 seconds for the start of the program to download like on Sky Q

Stream has been good for me had it during soft launch so can see its improved along the way. £18 is about the maximum I’d pay that includes Netflix.. also a 30 day rolling contract I have no interest in 18 month contracts.

Which from what I've read is pretty terrible.

I love it. Haven't had any issues with mine and wouldn't go back to Q at all now. Sound and picture quality are better and the fact every app is seamlessly integrated means I have everything in once place. Wife loves it as well as she can just search for a TV program or movie without having to go directly into the apps and it will just play them. Can confirm Atmos and Dolby Vision also work on all the apps. Forget to record something, I don't have to wait for it to appear a day or so later. Has proved especially useful for the F1 as I've done that a couple of times, so being able to start it in UHD whenever I like if I can't watch live is bliss.

Well my bill starting Tomorrow has gone to £141 a month from £114 absolute joke .

Only thing we don’t have with them is I ternet .
Have 3 box’s , uhd , Netflix , bt sport , movies and sports etc .
But that price is crazy.
What’s best to do ring up to cancel from the off ?

Thanks

Even £114 is madness, why are you paying so much?

Yes, ring and cancel. You'll have to play the whole what stuff do you watch game, just persist.

Couldn’t get any more discount when the wife rang up a year or so ago .

Told them we’d cancel they said fine etc.

Not having virgin as there is zero chance having lawn dug up to run the cable to the house .

I've just switched to Virgin, 1 Gb broadband (as my backup to FTTP), movies, sports, BT, Netflix (not UHD), and an O2 SIM for £85 a month, £200 bill credit and £165 (I think) Amazon gift card.

You can put fibre in the ground under a lawn without much damage.

As an alternate, maybe look at Sky Stream?

I may have got confused with the Virgin stream box, or perhaps Sky Glass, apologies.

Yes they have multi-room. Only issue is that each box needs a coax connection going back to where the VM coax is in your house. I know there are plans in the future to switch this to just wifi/ethernet but that's a while off.

Might be an issue don’t want cables all over the house to be fair .

May look at sky stream then though seems weird can’t record etc like can on sky Q box .

Virgin have a stream box as well so can avoid wires. Not sure on the prices on that side. As for recording it's all done with playlists now. Basically add what you want like a recording then can start the program whenever you like.

Oh really will look at virgin to then and prices.

So With the play lists i assume you can set it to record each episode each week etc ( series link as you can on Sky Q)

Can you use ethernet connection or is it wifi only on these would you know ?

Will look into this more when back in from work

Thank you
