*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I know that, it just makes me laugh you have to always go the cancellation route and then low and behold you get a much better price. Case in point I've re-contracted the same package for £40, I'm happy with that.
I understand why they do it, but their problem is that it gives me time to think. Max is finally hitting the UK in Q1 2026, and Sky's Cinema package is...Not optimal. I think I've decided that I'd rather just pay for disney, netflix, apple and paramount (and Max when it hits the UK at the end of next year) and still save money, and still be able to stream UHD in every room in the house.

Is this for just new customers? ie: What about existing customers in/out of a deal etc?

Are those as a new customer or have you been a customer for numerous years?

Because they're significantly better than the deal I've managed to get as a long term customer. Note: I only have Signature, HD and Broadband 150. You're paying a touch less for your 500 than I am for my 150 :)

I used to be with sky many many years ago, currently have virgin internet and I'm about to receive my Virgin tv box to try. Since it's only £5 extra a month I thought why not.

My question is will I end up going to sky? Sky was a minimum of £30 or whatever it is for stream these days.

Ive been a customer for a long time, but i do phone up and cancel when my contract ends without fail.

I think when i got this deal, id been without sky for 3 weeks, and even got sent the packaging to send my Q Box back, then i got a call offering the above.

Not strictly on topic but just re-signed with sky again this week, 44 all in for TV, sports, cinema, UHD. Today my new 2TB Q box turned up and it's seemingly a dud. Previously had a1TB box that was fine for about 5 years before the HD started failing (I think that was what was wrong anyway). Would there be any reason the 2TB wouldn't work with my TV where the 1TB used to be fine?

To add a bit of diagnostics, ran the box on my 3440 x 1440 ultra wide and where the response rate was quicker I could see that the image would flick on for a moment then off, repeating roughly twice a second but the box remained on throughout and could slowly get through menus. Called up and explained to which the agent said it could be my satellite signal (despite happening with or without the cables connected and it being the entire hdmi output not just the TV image) so would need to send an engineer to check.

Once I got off the phone I did manage to navigate the blinking to get to software update and try that and after a while it stopped blinking and stayed on, though then had the problem of HDCP preventing it working on my monitor. Switched to an old 1080p one and all worked fine, just no where near my satellite cable connections in my house. Left it running trying to do the update for a good 3 hours but no sign of it progressing so just switched off and moved it back to the TV and low and behold its not working again. Moved the 1080p monitor down and that works fine

Long story short, do I need a new TV or a new box, or both?

I walked away from Sky 5-6 months ago due to their costs and poor win back offers. Has it improved?
I called win back directly (number on the returns letter) and got my above too easily, suggesting I could have got another 5 or so off without much back and forth if I'd tried.

Basically said I wanted to go back to what I used to pay, they said I can see that was 53 (or something), I said that was after the price rose and it was more like 42 and they said oh yes going back further I can see that, sure you can match that.

Looking back further again I realised we used to pay 37 before that so was a little annoyed I didn't start there but got movies and UHD added in cheap so a little bit of value gained back.
