*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Mine's coming to end at the end of Aug, of which I had a 50% voucher from MisChief last year which makes it £50.02 a month for HD, Sports, Sky Talk, BB Unlimited.. it's going up to £88 ... absolutely no chance!

What are my options? Cancel and resign up or try and get a discount? I've tried on their online chat but said they couldn't do it. :(

No way I'm paying ~£90 a month, but I can't be loosing the footy :(

Hmm tough one.

Cancel the TV, maybe request MAC for BB and they may offer you a deal there and then for the broadband/phone?

You might get a "come back to Sky 50% off" hours after the TV has switched off on MySky.

Not sure if this is possible but people on here can clarify but maybe keep your broadband/phone with a retention deal on the account you have at the moment and cancel TV completely and sign back up for TV only using F&F code? Just a thought not sure if it would work.

Canceling broadband and phone isn't as straight forward as the TV, you can lose number etc probably a reconnection fee too involved however I don't see it going that far, they should offer something if you request for your MAC.

Hope that helps.

Well I phoned up today in prep for a move and they've offered a reduction from £66.40 to £55.80 with no package change.

Family Pack
HD
Telephone
Fibre broadband

Mmmm err no thanks

Will kill my Now TV trial too I expect leaving me with Netflix

This isn't working for me! I've been online for 2 hours now and all they can offer is half price line rental!

I have the full package and am paying £106 per month. They think a £7.50 saving a fantastic offer!

Seems that they will only offer a decent discount after you have been disconnected.

Think I'll cancel just before I move and see what happens. Tempted to do nothing till Jan when BB contract ends then look at Virgin /BT etc

I cancelled sky last month as I've moved to a new house and decided to go with virgin as it worked out better for me. The day that my sky subscription ended I logged onto the site to double check my final bill (which they managed to mess up) and was immediately greeted by a page offering 50% off to return.

Had Virgin installed last Friday and I'm happy thus far....

The more I read all this I'm thinking cancel Sky TV once I have an indicated completion date, do nothing till Jan. Hell I'm thinking less TV, more learning stuff for work again, bike rides, RC Racing and so forth.

I watch Netflix, but the fact that Homeland Season 3 isn't coming to Netflix ****ed me off and I'll have finished breaking bad by then. Re Sky Atlantic, I'm really tempted just to roll with the Now TV

I cancelled last month, and was cut of Sunday. Logged in to mysky 50% discount. So now its cheaper than that I was paying. lol

Why cant they just offer you a better price when you cancel. I was without sky for a few hours.

Roll on 11 months till I cancel again. lol

I hate this when they do this. Aviva did the same re my car insurance, dropping the first quote by circa £300, when I said no. Part of me wanted to tell them to sod off due to the principal.

Mine gets cut off on the 2nd of September so i'll log on after this date and see if they offer me anything.

I'm moving house on around the 19th September (completion date not confirmed yet) so I can wait until then anyway and sign up as a new customer.

So mine is due up the end of this month, the 25th I think... I'm going to ring them tonight to see what they can offer me.
Not expecting much but if they can't offer me anything what are my options?
I see it as 1.) Cancel and hope they give me a 50% off deal or 2.) cancel and get the mrs to sign up.

Thanks :)

Edit:
How do I get to speak to someone in the UK?
Rang Sky - no offers available what so ever (despite having various issue at the beginning of the contract).
Ringing to cancel it tomorrow and see what else they say.
