*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

The contract is usually 12 months, so did you recently phone them or take them on? If not and at £70, I reckon you've been out of contract for awhile, or you're taking everything under the sun from Sky!

We've had sky for nearly 8 years. Tell me about it was £100 so this is as good a time as any to get rid. We recently phoned them to ask them what the notice period was and they simply said 31 days notice so was just checking we could ring them up and say heres 31 days notice or by letter etc. Thing is we usually take sports and get rid so with that being a change in contract hoping there's no problems.

e; Ok don't worry, found out now that it's going to cost £52 to cancel the phone and interwebs because they're still in contract.

Called sky to cancel after end of o2 offer, took the 12 month contract for half price fibre, will cancel virgin install and give sky a shot, I have the option to cancel if the speed is below 36.1 mb in the first three months and only the fibre is on a 12 month contract. I'll need to cancel the virgin install I had booked, is there away to do it without calling the 0845 number?

Also MissChief or another sky op I was told the line rental saver was no longer available, is this correct or is it a case of having to ring through to a talk op rather than retentions, from the look of it only talk operators have the line rental saver option on their screens.

Hi mischief,

Arre the 50% codes still going?

Are you still able to cancle and re sign up in a different name at same address?.

I cancelled yesterday as my 50% expired but they told us the 50% no longer exist?

I might have to reconsider then thats a pretty big price difference compared to plusnet (with cashback), when I'm not to fussed about keeping TV.

Why does no-one run a line rental saver for the length of there contracts, 18 month contract 12 month line rental flippin fuschias.

So I've just called to cancel after my 12 months half price, that's going ahead. At what stage can I re-sign up under my partner's name does anyone know? Do I have to wait for it all to be cut off or can I do it in this final 30 days?

This is a question I would like to know too as I cancelled my contract nearly two weeks ago and want to re-sign up in my parents name.

Well just spent best part of an our on online chat after asking to cancel.

I was paying £67.25 a month (£71.25 a month once the price rises go through). This was for full HD TV package, movies and sports - no BB.

I pointed out that in May I'd been paying £52.25 for the same package - with a 50% off movies deal. I also told them I'm considering NowTV + FreeSat - so I'd be paying £5 a month albeit without the sports (I have BT sport so get some there).

They came back and offered the same package without re-contracting for £58. Needless to say I refused - and am due to be switched off on 23rd August. Even when I told them new customers were getting 50% and saving £400+ a year versus the deal I'm on they didn't budge. A saving of £13 hardly seems that great, especially when its more than what I was paying with the previous discount - and when I've been with them 6 years.

Lets see what drops through the letter box in the next few days, otherwise the wife may well be signing up for sky (I'm not that keen to lose the sports!).

I left sky from 02
Plusnet Unlimited Broadband up to 16 Mb/s £3.49pm + Line Rental Saver £131.88 if paid 12 months upfront + £105 TCB (12 months contract)
a month ago Happy as Larry

Just put the cancellation in. Currently have full hd package and an additional box at £78.50 a month - final straw when they sent a letter letting me know it will be increasing by £4.50 a month. Have been offered a whooping £16.50 off - shocking!

Cancelled my Sky last month and they cut it off today. Just in time to miss the grand prix :( But...

....upon logging into MySky this evening the 50% off for 12 months was showing and after going on their live chat I'm now paying £32.50 a month for Family + Sports + HD Pack :D The HD Pack wasn't included in the offer but it's only £5.50 a month and I'd rather not watch the footie in SD. And I got a £25 quid Tesco voucher for taking the HD pack.

Mine's coming to end at the end of Aug, of which I had a 50% voucher from MisChief last year which makes it £50.02 a month for HD, Sports, Sky Talk, BB Unlimited.. it's going up to £88 ... absolutely no chance!

What are my options? Cancel and resign up or try and get a discount? I've tried on their online chat but said they couldn't do it. :(

No way I'm paying ~£90 a month, but I can't be loosing the footy :(

I've just cancelled Movie and the phone/broadband which I haven't ever used in the 2 years I've been with them.

Waiting on the bill to see how much I've chopped off the bill!

Just came to use Sky Go on our XBox for the first time in months... only to find now you need Sky Go Extra for it. £60 a year (ignoring deals)...

App deleted.

Only need it if you already have two devices in your Sky Go account, Sky Go Extra gives back an extra 2 that we used to get for free in the early days.

No, if you want to use Sky Go on an XBox, you have to instead use Sky Go Extra.

Months ago we were using Sky Go on the XBox... now we can't.

Ignoring any deals, that's £60 a year to use what we were using for free a few months back.
