I've said I'll think about it. Leaning more and more to a high speed internet connection, Netflix, NowTV and Freeview.

tell them no thanks its too much to pay, you will get a call in a few weeks offering better.

I got 50% off bringing it down to £33 per month for full tv with HD/sports/movies for 12 months.

Anyone who is on the 50% off retentions deal thing. After the 12 months is up have you managed to get the deal renewed again? what have you done at the end?

Gone through the same recently so here's my experiences.

Short version: Got £300+ cash and £50 credit, 6 months free fiber, half price TV and a new hub, think of this as a game of chicken - you need to cancel to get the best deal.

Long version: Called Sky, offered 10%, booked TV cancellation and booked BT via Quidco cash back of £200ish and Sainsburys offer of £110. Sky called but the best that was offered was 25% off TV only followed by the standard 50% off TV mailing. Had a last minute discussion with the retention's team and the guy basically admitted the only way i'd get a better offer was to cancel - he was right.

BT cocked up the port leaving us with no phone line and much more importantly no functioning Call Care system for 4 days. Despite explaining the issue and telling them how to fix it (close down the port order se we had active call routing) for the best part of 8 hours and getting nowhere I pulled the only cards I had left and pushed the regulator for a complaint reference number and hit the CEO's office. Meanwhile Sky booked an Open Reach tech to close the port down... seriously a 30 second office only job required a tech to visit the exchange. The guy I dealt with at BT basically folded and offered to waive all contract fee's and allow me to go back to Sky.

Sky finally came good with the following:

6 months free 40mbit (18 month deal)
12 months half price TV - no contract
£50 credit on the a/c
Free hub (paid delivery).

As luck would have it BT sent us the Sainsburys gift card and paid the Quidco so we didn't do too badly all things considered.

Problem I have is I have moved into a new house and have nothing except 3/4G at present.

I am tempted to still tell them to disappear. They've since offered multi room at £51, but price is rising and the cheek to want to charge me £49 for new 2tb box.

Was about to do the cancel/signup in wifes name tomorrow with TCB - but just realised that we have a joint account - will this make a difference?? I know that contract is with person etc so not worried about same household rubbish - but does the account details matter???:confused:

Just cancelled Virgin and gone back to Sky. Got 35% discount on all packaged for the first year and back on my original package 'Family + HD for £21 for the first year.

Also got a months credit due to me moaning about them only rewarding new customers and sticking two fingers up to existing ones. :)

Waiting till the 9th Nov to be cut off. Anyone any idea on how it's possible to keep pvr function? I was under the impression that once cancelled it was deactivated, there's some guy selling sky hd boxes on the bay guaranteeing that the pvr function works without a sub

PVR is blocked as soon as you're cut off.

Damn,

Just cancelled and I got 35% offered for 12 months on the splash page when I logged in.

Is that likely to change?

I cancelled and will be cut off on Monday next week. I have had that same offer in My Sky for a couple of weeks now and also had a letter offering it that came through earlier this week. I am going to wait out and see if I get a further offer once I get cut off next week. Even then I might not bother as having thought about things since I cancelled I am not sure I am going to miss it that much in all honesty.

For anyone who is interested Money Saving Expert have a 50% off code "for newbies" - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheaper-sky-cheap-cable?utm_source=MSE_Newsletter&utm_medium=blagged&utm_term=28-Oct-14-v1&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_content=1#sky50

I have been through this process several times now, it always shows 35% in your dashboard until you get cut off. Around 2 days after you are cut off it changes to 50%.

At least its been totally consistent like that for my accounts anyway :)

Once you've been cut off shouldn't they treat you as a new customer and give you new equipment?
My (replacement) sky box is a bit flakey, but no way am I paying for a new one.
