*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I was cut off last weekend no offers previous or since so screw them lol im signing up in wifes name! that's after about 15 years stupidity

I am basing it on this ?

To be honest, I signed up last year for the free to air channels. I don't have a roof aerial so it was either paying someone money to fit a roof aerial or get sky for £16 a month and then keep the sky dish and box for the free to air channel.

I chose the latter, seems to have more benefits, more channels, better pictures, and more stuff to watch for 12 months.

Dunno about now, but they used to send you a letter with the offer. Normally a month or so after cut off date (not an exact science) I got a letter last month to have multi room (called something else now) back for £2.50 instead of the £10+ it normally costs. Likely gonna cancel mine after last F1 race.

Well the 50% showed up in my account about 2 weeks after i was cut off, i rang and mentioned the deal, asked what id be paying, then i said, ooh, sounds a bit too much that , i wont bother, then he offered 60% so i took it.

same - going to cancel sports and movies as a minimum after last F1 race. Just don't have time to watch sports etc these days.

I just re signed for sky with 50% off by using there I am a virgin media customer page.

I am not a virgin media customer, I am a sky customer in my other halfs name which expires next month. So i will cancel when its due. I have taken it out with around 3 weeks overlap from install date but its worth it incase they change the offers.

to begin with I put my name in and it asked me to call them suggesting i had already been a sky customer.. I then just put a random name in and my bank account details and it went straight through with 50% off.

happy days.

I'm moving house soon, I've not go planning permission to install a dish as of yet!
I'm out of contract and I don't want to lose my F1 channel, not interested in any other sports channels other than eurosport!

I got Sky F1 through my HD pack but am I correct in thinking that you need sky sports package to now get F1?

Also can I freeze my sky account while I sort out permission?

Cheers

I wanted to freeze my account due to having F1 but I was told they are unable do that so I ended up cancelling.

For me to get F1 I will need the Sports package.

Just called up to cancel.

£33 a month.

No thanks.

£28.50 a month?

No thanks

£27 a month?

No thanks.

£26 a month?

No thanks, i can justify what I am paying now £16.50 but £26 is too much, if you can renew it for another year I will consider it.

"Sorry we can't, that means you would have technically got another year free."

So I said, "that's a shame, I guess I will have to cancel"

"£18 a month?"

Deal. :D

It's not quite 50% off but close enough without interruption and faff.

Ha ha, that's great.

Can you remind me what your getting for your £18 a month? I ask, because I'm tempted to give them a call very soon also.

Currently, I'm paying £58.50 for Broadband + Line Rental, Sky TV (Variety package) and Multiroom (£11.25).

I was hoping to try negotiate for Sky Sports with what I've got at the moment with paying not much over what I am at the moment.

The Family pack and HD add on.

I don't get the movies or Sports as I have BT infinity (free BT Sports) and Netflix and I got Amazon Prime so since they do the video thing I am never short of things to watch.

It does seem to be a funny way to run a company.

I tried what Raymond Lin did earlier this year, and got no where!

Even if on significant anniversaries if they gave a "reward" it would make a big difference. eg: On 5 or 10yr anniversary give 50% off for the year...

Same here 12 years or so and they didn't even offer me £1 off oh well looks like I'll just get the wife to sign up in her maiden name lol

I've been using Now TV - £6.99 for the entertainment element (Sky 1/Fox etc) and £8.99 for the movies a month. Seems quite a good half way house. Sport is £6.99 for a day or £10.99 for a week. Suits my level of sport (f1 only) and the devices support mobile apps and chromecast

Can you run multiple Now TV boxes off the same subscription or do they each need their own?

So if I have 3 boxes would I pay £6.99 x 3?

4 devices on one account, I have my tv, ipad and 2 now tv boxes on one subscription, you could always buy another box with 3 months subscription for £20 and then sell the box for £10 ;)

He did ask me questions like why? And is there anyone come over to watch it (I said no) and if I use the on demand feature. I also mentioned I already have Netflix and Amazon Prime so I am not short of things to watch.

Truth is I really don't make full use of sky and told him that, I said its a lot of money to pay to watch Friends rerun and I already have it on Bluray and watch the news, I only used the on demand thing like 3 times and I can't justify the money. Which is the truth and his numbers keep coming down.
