*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Cancelled mine today. Will see what they offer, otherwise Virgin have a good offer at the moment TV XL with Sky/BT/sport movies HD and multiroom. 152meg BB for £70.99 for 12 months with 6 months of Netflix.

I've been using Now TV - £6.99 for the entertainment element (Sky 1/Fox etc) and £8.99 for the movies a month. Seems quite a good half way house. Sport is £6.99 for a day or £10.99 for a week. Suits my level of sport (f1 only) and the devices support mobile apps and chromecast

Ordered my new Sky Internet Package on the 7th, according to the Tracker the engineer to activate the line is booked for the 24th earliest, 17 days waiting time.. That seems like unusually long time!

Also using now TV, downstairs on LG TV app and upstairs on a couple of now TV boxes gotta say for £10 there pretty decent especially with plex side loaded

Regarding nowtv - I had a couple of nowtv boxes and was pretty grumpy about skys handling of the chromecasts (a device licence required for each) however you can still drive a licenced chromecast with an unlicenced mobile for now tv so now use chromecasts as they are tidier than the additional baggage of the nowtv. Works very well and very happy with nowtv - particularly as the odd free offer seems to fly by which is applicable for existing customers. Currently on a free three month deal on the entertainment package :)

The only channel(s) I'm missing are the kids ones for my son, Disney XD in particular doesn't appear to be anyway to get it other than a sub which is a shame as my son watched it loads

My latest bill has come through as £135 for 3 Months (so around £45 p/m), Phone (Unlimited Weekend/Evening) and Broadband (non-fibre).

That's way too expensive so I want to get a big boost on my Broadband speed and I'm considering Virgin Media.

I phoned up and they offered me 100Mb Broadband with Unlimited Weekend/Evening Calls on a 18 Month package and £20 off my first bill.

I had a quote of £37.87 for the first 12 Months, then £43.34 for the last 6 Months.

I could pay £810 for the next 18 Months with BT (£135 x 6), or £694 for the next 18 Months with Virgin Media

Virgin Media; that's £37.87 x 12, then £43.34 x 6 = £714 - the £20 off first bill = £694.

I won't get a better deal than that isn't it?

Has anyone used this before? http://www.quidco.com/virgin-media/?ac

I could use the following below to get £100 off rather than the £20 off I was offered.

Earn
£100
cashback
£6 for 4 months on 100Mb Superfast Fibre Broadband and Phone then £20.50 thereafter (Terms and conditions)

Currently paying over £50 a month for 4 yr old Sky+ HD (no HD content) ,multiroom (7 year old sky+ box), family package and half price sky sports (3 month deal).

Have been with Sky for 15 years and tried to get a deal to upgrade/replace the boxes and reduce the bills. Their best offer was to add more content and apply a discount to the content they were offering.
So i cancelled on Tuesday.

Got the wife to chat online as a new customer yesterday and ended up with two brand new 500GB sky HD boxes free. The package is family, plus sky sports, plus HD content.

£40 a month for 12 months with a £10 install fee- i can cancel after 12 months.... go figure.

My contract started in 17/12/13, so it runs out in a little over a month's time.

When should I cancel to get that 50% off? I don't get my broadband from them, and I only get the basic package + HD. I'd stay if they offer the same, which was what I got now, £16 a month, which is the same deal as normal price was £32.

Loyalty means nothing to sky, cancel every year, its what i do.

They say you will lose all your recordings etc, so what, i dont mind a bit of downtime either.

Some people cant live without it for a week or 3.

Ge them rung up tomorrow to get the cancel ball rolling , they will offer you small incentives to stay, just keep saying no, cut it off, months notice.

Aye, will do, unless of course the incentive to stay is the same price i am paying now.

Then after that, after 17th Dec, if I log into my account online there should be something with 50% off for a new contract?
