*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

If i leave sky do i have to wait a year before i can rejoin as a new customer?
Not like i can even sign up under my wifes details these days is it :(

Half way through my cancellation period. Was offered 35% off for 9 months on the phone. Now I am offered 50% off any package when I login and I received a letter. Sky have been ringing me all this week and just answered. They wanted to try and keep me as a customer and offered me the 50% off any package for 12 months and a free 2tb Sky HD box.

The strange and somewhat cynical has just happened. Woke up this morning to find that recordings/playback has stopped working with a 06-00 error code. After googling this and looking on their forum its a common error and the only two solutions are a planner rebuild or a full reset. Both of which I have done and the error is still there. Now I know I`m still in my cancellation period just find it strange my HDD seems to have gone faulty all of a sudden.

Just cancelled mine again after the 12 months half-price finished. She offered me £30 to go away and think about it, and then upped it to £80. No thank-you.

Now the waiting game begins. Another 50% off offer and a 2tb box will ease me back into the fold.

Yep my HDD has died in my Sky HD box with 2 weeks left till cancellation. Might just put another HD in it and leave it at that.

Well less than 5 hours after giving the 31 day notice I already have a 50% offer in MySky

But since I'm already paid up for another month I'll let them hang and see if they offer anything better.

they have offered me Sky line rental and broadband for £55 with no call package .This is down from the 1st offer of £66 the other day.
I want a new box as well though .Had mine for 4 years i bet now

Just got a letter from my local council saying I must apply for planning permission to put up my dish as apparently i'm in a conservation area..... (house is 15 years old) anyway I'm buggered if I'm going to pay £172 for the application fees to be told no and on top of that need plans drawing up etc etc for the application.

So my question is can I pay the remainder of my sub upfront to cancel early? There is nowhere else I can put the dish unfortunately as i'm a mid terrace and if it goes to the back of the house it will just be blocked by my house, fortunately I'm on £16 a month till December so its not so bad.

Are there any other houses with Sky dishes next to you.

Yep numerous, I shall take not of the numbers before I reply, pretty pi..ed off about it tbh considering its been installed for 13 years!

What prompted the letter?

I live in a conservation area too and Tbh people just do as they please, plenty of dishes around (although I have mine on an outbuilding rather than the house)

If I were to cancel and get my wife to sign up in her name, how does this work with the internet? Will I be net-less for a while?

Thanks

I've recently called and cancelled TV after 50% discount ended, but as I was advised, if I had also cancelled phone and broadband this could have been disconnected at any time during the 31 day notice, so decided to keep this on and perhaps cancel closer to the contract end date.

Has anyone else had a similar situation to this and still received a 50% offer to stay, without cancelling the whole package?
