*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

if I had also cancelled phone and broadband this could have been disconnected at any time during the 31 day notice
Surely the phone/BB also has a notice period and the fact you pay upfront they most know a date to which you're paid up. Sounds like FUD to me to get you to not cancel. Poor show if so.

I've recently called and cancelled TV after 50% discount ended, but as I was advised, if I had also cancelled phone and broadband this could have been disconnected at any time during the 31 day notice, so decided to keep this on and perhaps cancel closer to the contract end date.

Has anyone else had a similar situation to this and still received a 50% offer to stay, without cancelling the whole package?

So if we phone up to "cancel," should we only mention Sky TV, or talk about cancelling our whole bundle (phone + broadband + satellite)?

My plan was for my other half to phone up and cancel saying I'm looking into getting Freeview/Netflix/Prime etc etc.... In the hope that within a few days we simply get a 50% off offer!? I'd really prefer not to leave Sky as I like the service :)

Only the account holder can cancel.

She is...

But given hibeesmad's comment (a couple of posts up), should she only talk about cancelling Sky TV (which seems odd), or our entire package (phone, broadband & TV)?

The plan is for her to cancel in the hope of getting a 50% off offer within a week or so...

What I'd hate is for our phone/broadband to get cut off!

All good now, got a reply from my council saying I no longer have to remove my dish as its been up for more than 4 years! bleeding fools :)

I did the same, but kept broadband as they offered me it free for a year, got no further emails offering anything off tv packages

Sorry, so you phoned up and cancelled (TV) and you got no offers at all? So what did you do in the end then?

ps: I read a couple more reports from people yesterday who phone up and cancelled and were then disconnected (phone) well within the 30 day cancellation period!

I phoned up to cancel everything tv, bb and phone said it was down to cost they offered me nothing I then mentioned now tv and Netflix etc they then offered me free bb for a year if I kept that which I did but proceeded to cancel tv, got no offers for tv and that's now 8 months ago so I'm guessing its because they gave me free bb?

I ended up signing up a new contract in wife's name....

How bizarre, so you kept the phone with free broadband and they didn't even try to keep you on satellite?

I think I'll go ahead with plan (a) and phone to cancel it all. My other half will have to do it as its under her name...

I'll get her to umm and err to any offers and not accept anything.

I'll hope within a week we get a better offer.

I hope they don't cut our phone/broadband off!

SO to all you folks who have phoned up and cancelled, and then have had a reasonable deal offered to you a week or so later, did you phone up and cancel everything? ie: Phone, broadband and satellite?

Cancelled Sky TV yesterday (still have broadband/phone).

Only offered £10 a month off, been paying £93 a month, I'll wait to see if I get a decent offer otherwise I'll probably switch to BT or NowTV (no Virgin where I am).

Cancelled my tv today with in 5 mins I had a offer 30% off my tv
I spoke to a guy on live chat explain I got this offer ect he reduced the offer from 30% to 25% off no explanation why and started to pressure me to re join up told him I would leave it for now

30% of TV in my case is only £12 a month... But I guess that's nigh on £150 a year for a phone call I guess :)

Just got a letter from my local council saying I must apply for planning permission to put up my dish as apparently i'm in a conservation area..... (house is 15 years old) anyway I'm buggered if I'm going to pay £172 for the application fees to be told no and on top of that need plans drawing up etc etc for the application.

So my question is can I pay the remainder of my sub upfront to cancel early? There is nowhere else I can put the dish unfortunately as i'm a mid terrace and if it goes to the back of the house it will just be blocked by my house, fortunately I'm on £16 a month till December so its not so bad.

If you say your moving abroad, or your moving into a property that wont allow Sky TV, or already have it you can usually cancel early without early termination fees ;)

I'm well out of the minimum term of my contract with Sky - Fibre Pro, Variety HD (no sport or movies, and I moved to a flat so only single input for Sky+), Talk Freetime - all of which comes to the princely sum of £87.40 a month.

Sick and tired now of friends and family flipping accounts to their partners and getting amazing deals to "join" Sky and a bit puzzled that seemingly to get anything at all I need to go through the whole cancellation threat thing.

What are the chances of me ringing up Sky, explaining all of this to them, and getting any sort of discount off them to stop me looking to move elsewhere?

Nil? :)

You will likely need to say you either want to reduce your package or cancel completely to get anywhere.

Hi Its time to call and Cancel, What the best offers at the moment? I have HD full package and 2 boxes. Could do with the 4K box from sky but no sign of that yet.
