Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

I was close to buying an S3 to replace my Vivoactive as my everyday/running watch but read it wasn't too great with tracking distance too accurately.

My next option is the Vivoactive 3 but I'd ideally like a watch with offline Spotify support so the search continues for me too.
I have the original vivoactive so the 3 is a big contender for me now I come to think about it

Got the Huawei watch 2 today. Great upgrade from the old gear 2 neo.

One regression I'm annoyed with is the inability to copy music on to the system. Seems upload to google play from another device and then download to watch is the only supported way. Bad tidings for me with Android, it's the reason I ditched Apple ages ago.

Does anyone know the simplest and freest alternative app?

Also received my Huawei 2 on Friday. First smart watch (first watch in general for about 10 years actually...) and I absolutely love it. Though, I came very close to sending it back on Saturday. It was lagging like mad, even when waking from dim mode. Found out that "OK Google" was causing the problem.

Anyone else find the battery indicator to be really erratic? Drains to 90% VERY fast, slows down a bit to 80% and then stays around 70% for hours. Very odd indeed...

I'm finding the whole experience to be a bit erratic. Notifications are temporamental, and when they do work the vibration doesn't honour the style (short/long/double).

Sliding left and right changes the face and cant be modified to do something else. Huge waste of potential functionality.

The overall UI performance is extremely hit and miss. It will sometimes respond immediately, but mostly it requires the input done twice, or to wait patiently for it to respond. When scrolling menus it can lag and jitter.

Workouts seem ok, but when synced to google play it all goes a bit off the charts. TBF I think huaweis default is ok, maybe a Fit issue. Why is there no sleep monitor yet it has charts to monitor them.

I'm glad I bought from Amazon because its going to be easy to send it back. I'll give it another week tho.

Misfit Vapor is on sale until end of Jan (30% off), very tempted to get one :)

They back tracked on NFC and integrated GPS. It's a shame as it's a nice watch.

Well I've just ordered one :) @£129. Will sell my Gear S3 when it comes.

Thanks Deuse, are they that good? First time I've heard of them...

They have only just came out so I have no idea if they are any good or not. If you search for a video, make sure you put "misfit vapour android wear"
as misfit was going to do their own OS. I've had 360 2nd and a Gear S3. So at the price point it's ok.

Notifications has been completely fine for me, no issues here.

Agree on the left/right swipe, on 1.5 and before it was swipe left for app drawer which honestly was a lot better. I would prefer to remap the button to something else.

Disabling OK google fixed the responding issue for me, but I actually find the feature useful so I kept it on. Lags a bit but not as bad as my old LG Watch R.

Can't comment on workouts since I don't use my watch for fitness. I'm too lazy for fitness :p.

Can I ask why your selling your GS3 please? I got one the other week Xmas and it was awful for fitness tracking, the run app crashed, mile pace was way off and heart rate tracker was hot and miss :(

I'm going back to android wear as Tizen is a pain and has less apps. I don't use it for fitness but I do use it for tracking and getting to a place.

Followed you and DrToffner and turned the voice recognition off... jeez what a difference! All lag gone, notifications coming through correctly. Amazing.

Think I may keep it after all.
