So you've just become PM, what's on the menu?

  • Root and branch overhaul of our political system, it's outdated. This includes voting, second jobs, expenses and pay, the HoL, accountability in the HoC, lobbying etc.
  • Come down hard on foreign owned housing, second homes and address the chorionic shortage of new and affordable homes. Likely ban foreign ownership of key things like energy and the press.
  • Remove the tax free exempt status from private schools, charities my ****.
  • A proper insulation programme backed up by an energy plan that combines nuclear and renewable whilst weaning off fossil fuels.
  • Not renew train franchises, it shouldn't costs hundreds of pounds to go to another part of the UK on a train.
  • Speed up/prioritize the broadband rollout.
  • Come down hard on cheap and damaging food backed up initiatives/education on health living.
  • Revamp education and up per pupil funding, reverse a number of cuts to social care/education over the last 13 years.
  • Start a UK sovereign fund.
  • Legalize weed.
  • Set up/revamp accountability institutions (eg Ofcom, Ofwat) and give them real powers

do you really believe that?.. not the stopping boats i can accept people want to reduce those - as do i but likely not for the same reasons you do..... However i have to hope you are a decent human being and the rest was just not thought through. you would prosecute a lifeguard who chose to save potentially children from drowning or for refusing to push them back out to sea and face death?

I just dont believe you are that cruel.

it reminds me of that part of the book/film time machine with that girl drowning in the river and everyone just watched.
They can board the lifeguard boat to stop downing, but they can't come back to the UK with them, only back to France

There is a lot I don't agree with on that list (number 2 you animal, it's literally their job to rescue poeple), but I don't have to resort to name calling I can just quote:

...and I feel better!
What's wrong with AI? If you're scared of it then you'll just drag us to the back of the queue when it comes to 1st world advancement. Then you'll just bitch and whine about the economy

Make large corporations that make ££££ pay their staff a wage they can actually live on then remove TAX credits so the Taxpayer is no longer subsidising their workforce

Adopt large scale tidal power negating the need for large scale nuclear, push for more local generation, push for new technologies such as vehicle to grid etc
Tax credits is being slowly inflated away. But has cost this country a lot.

It was the "poor money" part that made me chuckle.

I deal with AI everyday as part of my job, so ahead of you.

Ahh i see LOL, obviously i meant "pour"

At the moment I'm semi-obsessed with learning everything I can about AI and the new chatGPT variants. Trying to learn as much as I can about prompt engineering I can honestly say I haven't felt this way about an emerging technology since the birth of the world-wide-web in 1993. It's clearly the future and it's going to be an arms race between countries about how they can produce the best AI and use it to advance their society. As per usual I hear nothing from the government and we're going to be late to the party YET AGAIN.

GPT is all well and good and great for writing code, however the next step for me is integrating various models together to perhaps replace a UI.

GPT can't do maths etc.

Give me three examples of how can AI improve my everyday life.

It can with the right plug-ins ;)

Anyway, we just gone way off topic and happy to pick this up in the right thread about AI in general.

back to the thread question:

we spend millions per year on ’ caring’ for 1000s of prisoners and undesirable people in this country

1). If I was in charge I would firstly carry out mass carpet bombing of Basildon and replace it with a giant colosseum where prisoners will be made to fight each other until their end for my amusement . we can charge crowds of people to come and see these amazing fights which we can use the profits to fund the nhs or pay off our massive debt . Yes it might break a few human rights rules… some United Nations rules.… some genava convention rules…. in fact quite a few international rules but I’m sure the sacrifices will be worth it

2) re unite Ireland …. Under my rule

3) introduce a Tik Tok tax If you have a Tik Tok account you have to pay an extra 50% income tax. If you lie to about not having an account ( to save on the tax ) and my ‘ special police ‘. Find out you do actually have an account it’s off to prison….. on 2nd offensive.… Yeah you are going to be a contestant in the colosseum

ONE RULE: YOU CAN NOT REVERSE BREXIT. IT HAS HAPPENED AND NOTHING YOU CAN DO WILL CHANGE THAT (this is just to prevent this turning in to the usual Brexit moaning thread)

Based! Pro-UK FTW!!!!!

Anyway, I'd overhaul the planning system, scrap greenbelt near to railway stations, don't make people just through hoops just to add an extra bedroom above a garage or make a loft extension, invest in social housing, sell off social housing in Central London to fund the building of even more further out (and scrap right to buy for the new stock + means test it + prevent people from inheriting leases) manage the provision of it London-wide... the state shouldn't need to pay for someone to live for free in a £1 million flat in Westminster while others are on the waiting list and you could build several flats if you sold that asset.

That's the main thing we need to change/sort out... simply the supply of housing...

Also, I'd totally disagree with your ban on renting out a property, there is a shortage of rental accommodation, and throwing in restrictions is the opposite of what we need... people need affordable homes to rent and people need more homes to buy and more social housing... just more homes in general and fewer BS restrictions on it all.

First and only order of my PM-ship: abolish any and all imperial measurements. Metric only, everywhere, for everything. And yes, I'm taking your pints - you'll get 500ml glasses now instead of 568ml but I'd mandate that all prices must fall in-line (so 88% of what they are now).

After that, someone else can have the job.

At the expense of going over 3 - bonus one banning leaseholds, though accommodation would be required for stuff like blocks of flats where a service fee is required but it would need to be regulated somehow.

I have to say I am actually very glad the Tory party isnt as far right wing as GD.

Thats some pretty deluded scary stuff some of you have posted.

Scary how easy it is to convince people "those other people" are responsible for all their troubles instead of the governing political party.

Its the only place I ever feel left wing.
Sometimes this place almost makes me feel I have been converted into a champagne socialist.
The real world reminds me I haven't luckily enough.

I had similar thoughts to you although mine was more about how some people seem desperate for regression as a way to stop progression.
MTG would welcome them with open arms!
