Spartacus: Blood and Sand

If Historians are to be believed then it was rampant.
Homosexuality wasn't frowned upon and people did it with whoever they wanted with no judgement.
The 15 year old boy in the series would have been offered to his Dad's best friends and if they refused it would be a dishonour.
It's only when little baby Jesus came that some of the world started to get morals.

"morals" you say, the same kind that lets priests abuse kids?

I like more to my tv shows than boobs and blood.

Seriously you need to get some Titus Pullo in your life

Personally I found Rome rather boring. Bit like Eastenders set in roman times from the bits I saw.

As for the acting I think it's not that bad. As said earlier the best series are those that draw you in and make you think of them as real people not just actors. Spartacus does this and, especially later in the series, it really makes you feel for the characters. I found it far better than the Pacific for that, that was just a load of people killing in the dark, no character connection at all.

I've watched all of Rome and Spartacus but they are completely different.

Rome is a lot more serious in it's story and less violent but the violence and actions that happen is significant, Spartacus, gives you the story and then throws a spear through your face.

I like both, find them equally entertaining.

What really spoils this show is the awful CG blood, though the excessive use of CG everywhere else is almost as bad.

At least with 300 it all looked a bit more realistic. If they can't afford to make it look decent then they shouldn't bother at all.

In your opinion.

I haven't got an issue with the CGI in any respect. If it bothers you that much then don't watch it?

It's not that bad! When I first saw it I was like "erm.. OK" but then just got on with concentrating on the actual program, not giving a monkey's about the CGI. There is terrible CGI in some amazing programs, and many, many more horrible programs/movies with amazing CGI. CGI does not a good show make.

I either got more used to the effects, or they got better towards the end of the season

I think they did get better, or at least not so much in your face. Then again, I was enjoying the show rather than fretting about a few blood splatters.

Just watched the first two episodes and the Acting and blood was a bit poor in comparison to later episodes I have to admit. I think they get into their stride a bit about halfway through the series with regards to acting/CGI/blood.

It's one of those series that every eposide is better than the last until you get to the last two where "WOW!". ;)
