Staples's 'Kashmir' Managers Chair

got an odd one with my Kashmir, I adjust the height to a correct position, when I come back to it after it hasn't been used for a while the seat has risen to the highest position

The only gripe I have is that it is a tiny bit narrow compared to my previous chair, takes a bit of getting used to.

Needed a new chair, was using a £20 operators chair before which was uncomfortable to say the least.

Picked up the Regalia for £100, fake leather and some fabric, so for £100 I felt it was nearer the value it should be, normally £300 (probably only that price so they can advertise it at £100 as £200, bargain, buy now etc.) but felt it was the best of the bunch. I have a fairly high desk and the Kashmir felt a bit too reclined, I needed something slightly more upright.

Well all assembled now, not too bad, the arms rests are just about perfect for the height of the desk and lumbar support isn't terrible.

For £100 I'd give it probably 5/10 loses on build quality, it's your typical mass produced plastic chair and it definitely won't last 10 years (arbitrary figure) but padding seems to be reinforced on the seating.

Had my chair 2 weeks and it already feels like the base has no padding, feels like I'm sitting on something solid at all times and it's not comfortable at all. £125 down the pan basically.

Bought mine a couple of weeks ago. Very happy with it. My old chair was literally falling apart and not that comfy, especially after an hour or so. This Kashmir is a big improvement.

I avoided the Kashmir because I wasn't impressed by the store demo chair's padding at all. But even the chair I did buy (Guiseppe) now has my old memory foam cushion on it. Makes all the difference, even if they're not particularly cheap.

My cushion is actually intended for wheelchair (ie long term) use and after two years it's showing no sign of age. I'm only about ten stone though, which may help its longevity. :-)

Lots of people saying the padding has gone. Not had experience of that as far as I can tell. Wonder if it's worth re-upholstering them with some new / improved cushioning beneath the fabric?

The Kashmir is a very soft, cheap chair that isn't particularly brilliantly made. I'm not surprised after 1/2/3 years the padding is wearing out!

I did this with another chair......undone the staples at the front of the chair so I could get into the base cusioning....bought some roll of padding from the bay.....then stuffed the base of the chair.....worked a treat...can re apply when necessary

Herman miller aeron, £300 used on ebay.

It`s still the best/most popular office chair I know of.

Or be an idiot and by a kashmir every 2 years :D

Why call people idiots for buying the best they can afford ?

My last chair was a £49.99 thing from Staples. It wasn't great. But I made it last nearly 9 years. So, I'm guessing, I'm an idiot who got his money's worth.

I then bought a Kashmir a few weeks ago, again from Staples. I was lucky in that it was half price, normally it retails for £250. So I saved £125.

Now if I can get 9 years from a £49.99 chair, I'm pretty sure I can get another 9 years from a £250 chair, and in a lot more comfort.

Also, the chair you're talking about retails at nearly £900. I'm sure it's great for that money. I'm also sure that a lot of people would think that spending £900 on a chair was idiotic. Unless of course you have money to burn.

You are not buying it new, hence £300. The Kashmir will last you ~2years* and its condition deteriorates fast because it`s not a £250 chair its a £125 chair... Save yourself the trouble (and money) and buy a premium chair with lumbar support that will last you many years. Yes, its a lot of money in one go for a chair but have a look:

-better quality
-it`s actually cheaper in the long run
-health benefits

So yes, it`s idotic, imho  Of course if you are someone who manages 9 years on a 50 quid chair, than we have nothing to talk about:eek:

*based on what ppl say here and my exp with crappy chairs

That's one of those "nobody ever pays more than 50% of that retail price, ever" retail prices.

Indeed, the Regalia I bought

is not a £300 chair, I imagine they sell 0 at full price and only sell them when they're at £100, kinda like all those sofa deals, "Now £500 off" as if they're doing you a favour and taking the hit on expensive furniture.

But :) I guess it's a little hypocritical of me considering I needed a new chair and had a £100 budget :D

Anyone have any experience of how to get to the padding in the base, other than ripping it apart?

I am 6 foot 4, 15 stone so it's no surprise than the padding is garbage. It is good for maybe the first 5 minutes, then squashes down. Probably will end up modding it, maybe with some memory foam from an old pillow that I hated as a pillow.

Anyone realise this has been discontinued now by the looks of things? I've had mine a few months and only just worked out what the turny thing does on the bottom
